I went home log on to iTunes on my laptop, went into my account and changed my address by deleting East. Everything on my iPhone, iTouch and iPad is now working great. Once it started working, I went back and added the East - everything is still working great! Doesn't seem like a little change like that would correct the issue - but hey - I am not complaining!

Same issue here (+1)

iTunes 10.2.2 Mac OS X 10.6.7

Problem exists across 2 MacBook Pro's, 2 iPhone 3Gs's, and two iPads (1st and 2nd gen).

On May 8th the iTunes account/store was working normally. As of today it's producing the infinite loop of asking for:

"Incorrect Address: A valid address is necessary to purchase. Click onBilling Info to go to the address page and correct your address."

Problem persists after numerous permutation and combinations of attempts to correct name and address info, charge info, etc.

Given the billing info hasn't changed in two years, and was working fine on May 8th... this has to be a server side issue with APple. I've fired off a tech support email with specifics but won't hold my breath as it can be up to 24 hrs before a reply.

Fixed mine late last night.

Went back to review the charge card billing address and compared it to what was in iTunes Store for the third time.

Upon very close inspection there were some minor differences with respect to address formatting (spaces between abbreviations). Must have missed those in the first two reviews in frustration.

Making those corrections, albeit they were very minor, corrected the issue. What I find interesting is the original data I had in there was formatted to US Postal records standards - the charge card company clearly isn't following the same rules which seems odd. Equally odd is that data had never changed and had worked fine in the iTunes store for 2 years.

Based on a review of the circumstances as noted it appears Apple clearly changed their authentication/review scheme in just the past few days. Now the premise for that change would appear to be very valid (fraud reduction), but a simple heads up in a clearly posted FAQ or an blanket email to users to check their settings and flagging what are clearly nuances as what to do would have been a more proactive approach.

Just my 2 cents -- it's working -- but a heads up from Apple would have seemed very appropriate in this case.

Best of luck to others who are experiencing problems... I'm still waiting to hear back from Apple Support regarding an email and will post it here if there's any new information from that offline discussion.

Same problem. Reviewed my address on one card and tried several address options. No luck, then changed the card all together - very carefully - and still no luck. This just started a few days ago without my changing anything on my end, so what is up with that. Send support email and went to genius bar. No help so far from either.

Hi. I had the same problem but managed to fix it (solved)

I did a search and found this site: http://www.melissadata.com/lookups/AddressVerify.asp

I entered my address info there as it was in AppStore and did a validity check.

It came back wrong and gave me options to look for valid spellings of street names and house numbers.

I have to say that Im using a itunes gift card and no real CC, but I assume the principles are the same.

Back in the AppStore I changed my detail as provided by the above site and all is working fine again.

Hope this helps someone.

I have had the "invalid address" problem for 2 days now,and still have it despite talking with an AppleCare rep (I have AppleCare for my recently purchased iPad), exchanging 2 emails (so far) with someone with iTunes store support.

My TC with the AC rep did not solve the problem, but did let me know this is a BIG problem for a lot of people. The rep (on May 9) went through some serious troubleshooting and we concluded I could not even change my account to get free songs from iTunes,so it is not strictly a billing problem, as others have also concluded in various posts. When her troubleshooting failed she put me on hold for a few minutes, then came back on the line and said the reps she shares an office with were inundated with multiple calls about the "invalid address" problem. She advised me to wait and see if Apple came up with a solution since she was convinced it was a serious problem on their side.

I then went to the Express Lane and started another case with iTunes store support. Got an answer in about 28 hrs which did not address my problem at all, indicated I was having a problem with my credit card or with entering the details thereof (which is not the case at all).

I emailed back with a detailed description of my problem and the AppleCare TC's failure to solve it.

She answered back directing me to change the zip code in my billing info to zip+4 since I only had the 5 digit code and Apple now requires a zip+4. She said I should contact my credit card companies and be sure they were using zip+4 as their address for me.

So I wasted an hour today doing all this. I called AMEX directly and changed to zip+4, then did the same online with PayPal, confirmed again that both were now zip+4, went into the iTunes app store on my Mac,changed to zip+4 in my account there, tried to buy an app using AMEX--NO JOY,"invalid address" reared its ugly head again. Changed payor to PayPal, same negative result.

Rereading this forum again I tried the address validation check which worked for user chrisRfEP above, made sure all my addresses conformed to the USPS database EXACTLY,still getting the "invalid address" message

every time I try to purchase.

I sent off a reply to the iTunes support rep relating the above,no reply from her yet.

Meanwhile my partner goes blithely on purchasing apps and songs with nary a hitch.

No solution, but I can conclude from my experience:

1.this is not an isolated problem, not universal, but affects many more than have posted here.

2.even though some folks have fixed their "invalid address" difficulty by fiddling with the address, many others (myself included) have not, despite trying many permutations.iTunes store support seems to think it is a simple address field problem.

3.Apple seems to have outgrown its ability to efficiently support its customer base, and the support system itself seems very siloed and fragmented, not sharing info about problems and solutions. I recently encountered this when I found my long standing Apple ID rejected for no reason by these support forums and had to create a new non-billing one just so I could post about that problem. So far no solution there either, except to continue my double life.

Hopefully Apple will realize that THIS problem is costing them money, since it denies all affected the option of purchasing anything through the iTunes store. I plan to keep emailing back and forth with the iTunes store rep for a few more days, then I will go back to the nice Canadians at AppleCare and see if they have yet found an answer.

I'm not sure if it's possible - but if you delete Credit Card from your account and start use only real iTunes gift cards may help - by choosing "None" instead of Visa, Paypal (sometimes this "None" appears only when gift card activated).

Many people already solved this problem - but only on accounts which was made by gift cards in first place and never assigned to any Credit Card and it's billing address which causing so much problem.

This problem is not Apple already - it's from Visa and Mastercard i think right now - the address on your iTunes account never match with billing address which was provided by processing back to Apple.

So in this situation better to not register and not use credit cards in iTunes, but you can use them in Apple Store to buy gift cards freely and easy.

This is not a VISA or PayPal problem. My addresses match perfectly. Every online vendor verifies your address. I can purchase from other online vendors. Just not from Apple iTunes. I was even able to purchase the Apple Development program with the same exact AppleID. Blaming the customer and telling them to go to email based, offshore support, that never responds, is not a solution. I paid a premium for all of my Macs, so that I would get good customer service and support. Otherwise I would just buy a Dell again. I am not getting good customer service from Apple for their iTunes product.

So I have checked with the post office, the credit card firms, had several emails back and forth with support, went to the store and spoke with a genius and no luck. I think the bigger issue is why has it all of a sudden caused all of us problems? I didn't change anything, it just stopped working. That would indicate a problem on Apple's end - not ours.

So it that is the case - they need to trace the problem down and repair it and notify us of the repair.

I keep getting an invalid address when trying to purchase songs. All the information is correct - it just send me in a circle
