"There is a problem with your device"

I just plugged my iPad (1) into iTunes to sync and it said there was a new software update available and did I want to install it. I said yes and the update started. After a while, it said there was an error and I needed to restore which I attempted only to have an "There is a problem with your device" message come up. I unplugged it and plugged it in again and the same error message happens every time. I contacted Apple support and they said the "hardware" still has 60 days of warranty left but they want $29 per incident or $79 for ongoing support and an Apple Store is 100 miles away. I would appreciate any help I could get. Thanks.

iPad 1, 64Gb WiFi, purchased in february, no jailbreak, everything from iTunes.

I've updated to 4.3.3 - it seemed OK, but afterwards a few programs didn't work, so I decided to make a software restore.

Now the iPad is in the "Connect to iTunes" state, and iTunes says There is a problem with your device....


(btw my username means: Now I'll sell all the ***** I have from Apple)
