"There is a problem with your device"

I just plugged my iPad (1) into iTunes to sync and it said there was a new software update available and did I want to install it. I said yes and the update started. After a while, it said there was an error and I needed to restore which I attempted only to have an "There is a problem with your device" message come up. I unplugged it and plugged it in again and the same error message happens every time. I contacted Apple support and they said the "hardware" still has 60 days of warranty left but they want $29 per incident or $79 for ongoing support and an Apple Store is 100 miles away. I would appreciate any help I could get. Thanks.

I'm from Costa Rica and i'm facing the same issue..

When i went to bed yesterday this thread was at page 5.. i can't believe 15 hours later on page 12 and being a Worldwide issue Nobody from Apple has came here at least to say a simple "we're working on it.." Seriouly, that would take like 1 minute to post..

I'm kinda dessapointed from their support.. pretty sad actually..

Best regards.

I updated a week ago, but had an issue and tried to do a restore ... iOS 4.3.3

The restore went great and then I got "There is a problem with your device." when it tried to activate.

Rumors on other forums say that it is an issue with the Activation servers, however I have been on the phone with Apple Care for the past 2 hours trying to get this resolved.

So far they want to "replace my nice new shiny device with a refirbished one".

I refuse and now am on hold as I type this waiting got a Supervisor.

If this is not resolved by Monday, it goes back and I get a refund. No way am I dealing with this kind of crap.

TEST YOUR PRODUCTS APPLE BEFORE YOU DEPLY THEM OR UPDATES!

This is almost as bad as Sony's little booboo.

Same issue here in Texas. I bricked my iPad last night and came back online today to see if anything has changed, but it looks like it hasn't. What a crock. I own a ton of Apple products and from now on, I will wait to update them until after Apple works out the kinks. Next time, I will come on to the apple support site and check to see if there are any issues like this before I update my OS. Seems like it is a waiting game until Apple acknowleges the issue. You would think that they would stop allowing people to update their devices once they learn of this issue, but I have not seen anything from Apple regarding this yet.

The supervisor I spoke with says they are aware of the issue and are working on a solution.

I am to contact him next week if the problem is not resoved by then. He could not give me any details and knew very little about the issue. The Apple Care rep only directed me to do a forced recovery and had no ide there were any issues. "nothing reported"

In both of my conversations with Apple today, I referred them to this thread.

Let's hope it is somethign silly like they are using a Windows Server for activations and it needs a reboot. (LOL)

j/k, but yes this is a HUGE PROBLEM for us as now we have only pancake devices that we cant use.
