"There is a problem with your device"

I just plugged my iPad (1) into iTunes to sync and it said there was a new software update available and did I want to install it. I said yes and the update started. After a while, it said there was an error and I needed to restore which I attempted only to have an "There is a problem with your device" message come up. I unplugged it and plugged it in again and the same error message happens every time. I contacted Apple support and they said the "hardware" still has 60 days of warranty left but they want $29 per incident or $79 for ongoing support and an Apple Store is 100 miles away. I would appreciate any help I could get. Thanks.

Same here in the UK, updated mine this morning and it died on me, I called Apple support and they are aware of the issue. They talked me through a hard reset but still the same. Currently waiting on the end of the phone for their supervisor.

The tech guy said if it can’t be sorted i will get a new I pad but not an upgrade to an Ipad2 which is a shame.

I'll let you know what they say

Just got off the phone, the tech guys were very good and very helpfull, I've been asked to give it until Monday for the IT people to sort out the issues but if they can't they said they would send me a new pad on Monday...I for see the shareholders not being very happy if everyone has to have new pads etc...

They also said they would looks at the forum to see all the issues, as like some others I've directed them here...

Wow this thread sure has exploded since last night. It is a good thing that we are all experiencing the same issue, as bad as it is, since it tells us it's most likely not our devices.

Some things to keep in mind: apple will not reply to these forums. They never have and never will. Just saying.

Also, we are the unfortunate ones who saw this issue first, wait for the issue to propagate and get to apple. They will fix it. It was very helpful to see a reply here about the activation server's IP changing. This is our issue. Guarantee it.

I have an appointment today at 5:30 EST with apple and will update this post afterwards. Betting they just hand over a new iPad. I'm just very curious to see if we run into any activation issues in-store. I'll let you guys know!
