"There is a problem with your device"

I just plugged my iPad (1) into iTunes to sync and it said there was a new software update available and did I want to install it. I said yes and the update started. After a while, it said there was an error and I needed to restore which I attempted only to have an "There is a problem with your device" message come up. I unplugged it and plugged it in again and the same error message happens every time. I contacted Apple support and they said the "hardware" still has 60 days of warranty left but they want $29 per incident or $79 for ongoing support and an Apple Store is 100 miles away. I would appreciate any help I could get. Thanks.

And.......it's fixed. 🙂

As a side note.. I found out today that Apple Stores cannot exchange your broken iPad1 for a brand new shiny one at the store. They are now sending them in for repair, and/or mailing you a new one. Supplies are dwindling they say, and most stores don't have any on hand.. big difference from when I had iPhone issues in the past, when almost 99% of the time they would just hand over a new one and take your old one. So definitely consider this, and be sure to find out what they are going to be able do for you before making the trip to the store..

The updates to this thread saved me at least 2 hours in the car today. That. Rules. Thank you 🙂

I had this problem (India). my ipad was bricked. but then found a solution at:

http://jaxov.com/2011/05/fix-itunes-error-3194-21-1013-1014-1015-while-resorting -ios-4-3-3-stock-or-custom-ipsw/

1. remove the apple activation server ip from the hosts file (looks something like gs.apple.com)

2. restart your PC.

3. restart your device in recovery mode

4. Load the stock 4.3.3 ipsw from iTunes.

Hello I think i have a anwser i had this problem very recently and here is my advice. I first tryed reintalling itunes and called apple support for help. It didnt really help very much. But then i thought and found a way to update or restore it. I was trying to update on my mac that already had itunes so I grabbed my PC and dowloaded Itunes I then authorized the computer then signed in to my account. Then i simply plugged my ipad in and clicked update it downloaded the firmware and then went through to update process smooth with no errors. That is the way I did it I dont know if there is a way to go to Mac from a PC but you could always try. Good Luck
