Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

mac app store tells me to log into account to update apps(that I don't own) but that is not my account and I never heard of this email. Is there a fix for this?

I have the same problem. I do not have Facetime. I called Apple support and spoke to one of their engineers. They were not aware of the problem. He googled the email address and looked through the discussions on this issue. He then took it to the engineers to identify the cause. I have not heard back yet, but I suspect there will be a fix soon. I personally doubt your account information could be stolen this way, since you obviously do not have the log-in information for the account tr33st at live dot com. It could be an annoyance trojan, or it could be something inserted by a disgruntalled Apple employee. Who knows.

On another thread the suggestion is made to download and install the latest full update from the Apple site. That seems to have worked for some people. I haven't tried this since the guy from Apple asked me to hold off until he calls back. They might want me to test some things for them.

Edit: so why does everyone here appear to have pirated software (and doing it through it App Store)?????

I don't think people are buying pirated software from the App Store, but if they get a copy purchased on a different account, when it comes time to update, it will need to be updated using that account. And it does this through the App Store.

Yep, still ongoing today. And no word from Apple anywhere either, that I can see. 😠

Though the address I have for this Twitter app update I don't actually own is still: tr33st@live.com

And yes, under the "Store" dropmenu, it still shows me logged in under my proper AppleID.

And yes, also the apps I do already have on my system (bought pre-MAS), do not show as "Installed" in the MAS either.

So the MAS is DOA, at the moment!

Anyone read anything new, then please inform the rest of us. Until this is fixed, the MAS is effectively dead to me.

Since these are user-to-user forums, Apple will not respond here, so I have contacted MAS support and referenced this tread; hopefully someone will check it out.

If anyone else wants to contact MAS, here is the link:

http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact.html?form=account&topic=Mac%2 0App%20Store%20Account%20and%20Billing

If the main page comes up, click on Account & Billing. Detail what has happened to you - be as specific as you can (exactly which steps resulted in what).

That is not a "live link", it's simply an email address, giving reference to the actual email address we are all having problems with in our MAS Updates!

Anyone with half a brain realises that, as it's been mentioned in around a dozen threads already.

"No word from Apple" obviously does NOT mean in the forums here, it means elsewhere online! (Jeez why does every idiot have to say the blindingly obvious around here.)

(erm, like no one's done that already.)

The others have been deleted or edited. Just because someone else did something stupid does not mean you have to do it as well. It makes no difference if it's a website or an email address - if it leads to the possibility of being scammed, it should not be posted here without editing it into something that is not clickable.

Actually, my entire brain works quite well, thank you. Assuming that everyone reads the same threads as you do is not reasonable.

I do not appreciate being called an idiot. Read the ToU and abide by it. What is obvious to you may not be obvious to someone else if you don't mention it. I was trying to help; even though I do not have a problem, I took the time to contact the store.

Since you delight in insulting your fellow users and volunteers, I am done here. Good luck.
