MacKeeper is horrible malware that causes a "virus warning" to pop up in your browser that freezes the functionality of your computer until you force quit the browser several times. I'm STILL trying to get rid of it! You are misrepresenting your product and I can't imagine what you are gaining from hijacking peoples computers like this other than an evil twisted chuckle. Why don't you show some good will towards the "legitimacy" of your product and tell us how to stop this annoying malicious virus addware that all of sudden started popping up AFTER we did the free (except for the major headache of this software) download? I have deleted it from my system (which was a headache as well) and now I'm getting this popup which I NEVER got before this bogus mackeeper program.
There are two people who come here to promote MacKeeper: suçkers who don't know everything MacKeeper claims to do can be accomplished easier and safer for nothing, and the shills paid to promote it.
Which one are you?

So says everyone else who played Russian Roulette.
Turn off your internet connection before you install, or it'll try to phone home. You'll probably also get some warning that it needs the internet in order to 'access all its functions', but you can click through that dialogue and it seems to function "as intended" (if you know what I mean!).
Yes, the demo version will give you a report like that. You won't be able to actually "fix" these "issues," though, without purchasing the program. They sure do make these "issues" look dangerous to convince you to buy, don't they? 😁
Make sure you have an updated clone so when you're done with your testing, you can wipe the drive (to get rid of any nasty leftovers and avoid having to uninstall the thing) and clone back your system.
If you have a copy of Parallels, it's really easy to install a basic Mac OS X system in Parallels and use that for this sort of testing. You can save a snapshot of a clean, base system, and then save another snapshot with your MacKeeper junk installed. Everything's neat, clean and isolated.
I don't have any use for Windows, either, but still have Parallels. It's far more useful for this sort of testing than bootable clones, as resetting to some default state is a matter of a couple minutes and the environment is more isolated than a bootable clone. If you do a lot of testing in throwaway systems, Parallels will easily save you in time enough to warrant the cost.

...or you can set up a quarantined installation for free with VirtualBox. I know it's not as refined as Parallels, but much of the difference between them concerns integration with the host OS (something we're not interested in in this scenario) and general aesthetics.
I've told my story before, but just to warn that MacKeeper may destroy some important programs. In my case, MacKeeper destroyed my Microsoft Office, I couldn't access my files at all.
They did pay me back the money, but not money to buy Office , which was so much more expensive.
And it caused me HUGE inconvenience and trouble.

Yes, I've heard this before. I think this is because MK's 'FastClean' function identifies foreign language packs as 'unnecessary' and removes them.
As I recall (I may be wrong, so experts feel free to put me right if you know otherwise), Office crashes without the foreign language packs, which are coded into the binaries.
Don't do MacKeeper man. It is nothing but bad news. The program has created a false necessity by aggressively promoting MacKeeper like it is actually the lifeline that can keep your Mac alive, when the truth if far from that. The fact that they market the program as MacKeeper 911 should tell you how cheesy teir marketing gimmick is.
Don't do it. If you have it, even if you have paid for it, just uninstall and you will probably be better off! If you want to cleanup your iPhoto folder and free up a lot of hard disk space, I would recommend Clean My Mac 2 over MacKeeper, any day!
Thanks
The Mac Monster 🙂

Is someone considering installing that venom filled cobra Mackeeper?
One of those two things is a hateful and detested creature, capable of inflicting costly and serious damage on the innocent. It is a hazard to humanity that should be destroyed on sight. It has no redeeming value whatsoever, and the world would be a better place if it had never been created in the first place.
The other one is a venom filled cobra.
Thank god I read the thread on all these posts. I just purchased MacKeeper, because my MBP was really starting to get sluggish. I removed a few downloaded movies, as I know that is usually a problem for memory etc.
I intially used it to clean up duplicates of files, music and pix that I had. Well when it came time to remove the so called "duplicate files" i recieved a warning from MacKeeper, asking if I was SURE, I wanted to remove all these files. Because it didn't necessarily mean I didn't need them. Huh? I was to unsure to hit the button. Then I found this thread from all my Apple Peeps.
I called them immediately and had them refund my money and had an ITsupport person walk me through removing the software.....completely. As I also learned on this thread that it's hard to remove it completely even after a uninstall.
The only problem now is, I am emptying my trash and it has 24,000 + to empty. That scares me quite frankly.
Don't use mackeeper I got my mac and it was a day old I downloaded it and said I have 13 thing on it that need to be fixed there just tryin to get money out of u and popups get really bad . Download Firefox u get a free anti virus with it and u can get popup blockers aswell with it
there is NO NO NO NO NO need to download MacKeeper. I downloaded Clean My Mac and ruined my Mac OS. Although your operating system is full of craps you can do a system reinstall. System reinstall does not even hover on your files, just dont download system enhancers.
