If you're jailbroken and you have the User Agent Faker installed, then look no further, a recent update to it causes this.

Just uninstall it for now, reboot and it should work. I also had to sign out of my App Store account, reboot and sign back in, and voilà... I'm back on track.

I have spent about 8 hours since yesterday trying everything I could find, but hadn't come across the User Agent Faker problem until now. I was almost ready to renounce technology and move to Alaska.

If this still doesn't work, try all the other suggestions such as clearing cache, cookies and history from Safari and making sure your credit card info in the App Store is up to date.

Salavma, you are a genius. I spent a whole day trying to work through this issue. I dreaded starting over because my iPhone 4 has over 750 apps on it organized in 40 folders. I have man years involved organizing this iPhone.

With so many updates due to the new iOS 5 there were so many possible updates which could have been responsible for this problem. "We" are all in your debt. Thank you.

Echoing the comments above, many, many thanks Salavma.

I've wasted a day trying to sort this out; disabling User Agent Faker fixed it in a minute.

FWIW this also solved the issue I was having with the Instapaper App refusing to connect ("recieved an unexpected result", or similar).

Bizarely, User Agent Faker was switched off so I never even considered the possibility of that being the culprit.

I'm running 4.3.5 on my iPhone 3GS and did the following. You need to logout/login from your Apple store. To do so, go to General->Settings, click on your Apple ID, sign out, then sign in but enterin your Apple email and password. Bingo..............

Go to the App store and update/install waiting applications.

No need to restart settings whatsoever.

Good luck
