Has anyone had their iTunes account hacked recently 5/2011?

I just received 2 e-mails from iTunes showing purchases of $50 gift cards. When I accessed my account, it had been hacked and my address information was changed from Florida to Mass. but my correct phone number was unchanged as well as my password. I tried to contact iTunes but the ONLY contact is through e-mail. In cases of security or fraud, there should be a toll free number where you can actually talk to someone within a reasonable time. All I received from my e-mail to iTunes was an e-mail saying thanks for contacting them and I should hear from them within 48 hrs. That is simply not acceptable as a business practice for any company that claims to support their customers. Has anyone else had problems recently - Could this be related to the recent large data thefts, and if so why hasn't Apple notified their customers?

You can only send them an e-mail <iTunesStoreSupport@apple.com> although someone posted earlier here, that there is an live chat option but I don't know where you find that...

If you can still get into your account, go to purchases and I believe you can click that you have a problem with that purchase - forget exactly how that looks but you can find it easily enough.

BUT GO IMMEDIATELY into your account and get rid of your payment info - wipe it AND pick the no payment option - then you just enter the info when you want to buy and then wipe again - pain in the butt but it will be secure.

If you go into your account, and see purchases you did not make, check to see if the CC info is yours - if it isn't, then your CC isn't going to be charged for it - BUT someone else's is and now they have to deal with iTunes.

My account was hacked today too. So was my email account. Both requested me to change my passwords when I logged into them. Is it possible this is a result of the PS3 hijack? The hijacker took all the available money on my giftcard and used it to buy apps. I don't understand how they can do that if they aren't authorized computer on my account. I sent an email to itunes support as it seems that's the only way to contact them.

Our account was hacked a few weeks ago, gift card was just put into the account, and they purchased Texas Holdem credits. iTunes was notified, and they closed our account. No refund, we lost the credit money.

Read the iTunes agreement. Gift cards have a value of 1/10 of one cent. They have the option to close your account anytime, for any reason.

Now with 5 Apple products, including a new iPad 2, all the apps we purchased are dead. No updates, as the apps try to connect to the old account that is closed. I must delete all the apps, and go back to the store under a new user name and buy all the apps, movies, TV shows and music....all over again.

I have contacted Apple and iTunes support with zero help. They should just tell you up front that you are not buying an app, but "renting" it until they close your account, then you can go back to the store and "rent" it again until they close your new account. What a rip off.....and NO SUPPORT. They just don't care....just take our money and scam us over and over.

Below is the reply I received from iTunes yesterday. Account closed and please go buy more, spend more. NOT a good day....lost everything. Lesson learned, if your account gets hacked, DO NOT report it to iTunes, just live with the loss and keep quiet. They will shut you off and you will loose all the apps, movies, music, etc.

This is Prashanth again with iTunes Store Customer Support. I hope that you are having a good day.

Your account has been closed so you will not be able to re-download or update apps that were previously purchased without purchasing the Apps again.

Thank you for taking the time to explore iTunes. I hope in the future you'll decide to open another account and purchase from the iTunes Store once again.

Sincerely,

Prashanth

I wonder why they closed your account. They didn't close mine. I just changed my password. Apple can obviously see who the people were that hacked our accounts. But I am sure they don't want to ban them because then those people wouldn't be using their iphones or ipods and not spending money with Apple. Very frustrating! I am still waiting for Apple to refund me my giftcard money.

Two weeks ago had the same thing happen to my account. Received two emails regarding two "purchases" I made through the Itunes store... still have the emails with the receipts and who they were sent to.

It wasnt my name and address it was someone elses and a different credit card. Ive since sent those emails to the FBI Cyber Crime division for further investigation. This seems to be a real problem for Apple. Ive since changed all my login information and security questions to make it more difficult for anyone to do this again.

I feel sorry for whoevers credit card they are charging. Hopefully the FBI can crack whos doing it and put a stop to it.

I suggest everyone change passwords and update security question to be something totally obscure.
