How do you unsubscribe from the New Yorker
Subscribing seems to be easy enough but how do you unsubscribe. Their website suggests the only way is to call some phone number. Is this correct?

I finally got an email from a New Yorker 'affiliate' with an answer. It's not too bad now that I know what to do. From iTunes go to View My Account, there was a manage app subscription button, clicking that got me to a page where I could turn off auto-renewal. Hopefully that will work and the subscription will expire at the end of the four issues.

For extra clarity:
Why Apple couldn't tell me this, or The New Yorker, or either of their support pages or FAQs is a mystery.
If it was a free app,all you have to do is hold your finger on the app icon until it starts to jiggle and an X appears at the top left corner of the icon. Tap on that X and the app will be deleted. Then push your 'home' button to stop the icons from jiggling.

I don't mean to speak for the OP, but I don't think deleting the App is what he's asking about. He bought a subscription to the New Yorker and now wants to cancel that subscription and was (evidently) hoping that unsubscribing was as easy as subscribing. I don't think getting out of a subscription is as simple as buying one.
rbrylawski, you are correct. Deleting the app is no problem, its stopping the automatic charge to my credit card that is the challenge. I will call the number after the third issue is downloaded. I hope I can find that number again ;-) it took a few pages on the New Yorker website and I'm not even sure it is the right place... I'll start there though. Through the app would seem to be a better approach.
Well good luck and I hope you find it not a long and arduous process to cancel your subscription. Buying somethig is often easier than getting out of the purchase. Did you buy it directly from the New Yorker, or did you buy it through an App, such as Zinio or Kindle?
Perhaps it's like the Daily subscription. See if this works.
Go to the Settings application - and select the Store Icon on the far left then view the Apple ID, submit your password, and then SCROLL down to Manage App subscriptions. See if it's there.
Good idea but no setting for the new yorker. The app points back to the app store. One button to a webpage for leaving comments. My question of 1 week ago hasn't been answered. I asked again about unsubscribing. The other bottom leads to a webpage with a FAQ. There is an entry about subscribing or problems with your subscription and gives a phone number. Nothing about unsubscribing. I'm back to trying the phone number in a week or so after the third edition is downloaded.
Now they seem to have a free preview of four digital issues. I wouldn't recommend it but it would have saved me $5.99 to try this out. I found the phone number again so maybe I will be able to unsubscribe next week.
This is totally messed up. Apple (phone call) can't help but wants to charge me $29 for a one time consultation. New Yorker (phone call) can't help -- tells me to call Apple. None of the various web pages, FAQs, etc. help. Just remember: don't subscribe because you can't unsubscribe.
GUys, it's easy once you know! First, you have to be on your computer. Go into your account at ITunes, then on that Acoount Information page go into Settings section, then you'll see Subscriptions, click on Manage, and voila! It should be easier, though. Should be able to do it from the app itself or from settings in the iPad. But no such luck. Hope this helps.
David, thank you so much. I had the same problem. Great magazine, dreadful app, dreadful unsubscribe and dreadful customer support!
For others with this problem, in your ipad, click on the iTunes store app. Scroll down to where it has your Apple ID. Click on that button and select View Apple ID. Then a window pops up. Scroll down to Subscriptions and press Manage. You can then slide your New Yorker Auto Renewal to OFF. Hooorah!
Very disappointing, New Yorker.
You can also get to the Apple ID place on your iPad or iPhone via:
Settings > Store > Apple ID
Works smooth, once you're there.
Hoops jumped through before getting here:
• New Yorker iPad app > Home > My Account ..... nothing useful
• New Yorker Digital help number (1-800-873-8201) ..... told me to call Apple
• Apple Support (1-800-MY-APPLE) ..... told me to contact New Yorker app developer
• Googled "how to unsubscribe from the new yorker for ipad" ..... got this thread. YEAH!! Thank youse!
Received this from New Yorker customer service by email:
"To manage your iPad only subscription:
1. From your device's Home screen, tap the Settings icon.
2. On the left hand side under settings, tap on Store. Then on the right
hand side under Store, scroll down to the bottom where you will tap on
your Apple ID.
3. Tap View Account, you will then need to enter your iTunes password.
4. From your account page, scroll down and under "Subscriptions" tap
"Manage" . If you do not have app subscriptions, this button will not be
displayed.
5. You will then be taken to your App subscriptions page.
6. Tap the subscription category for which you want to change.
"
