Awesome! Thanks for posting your solution. It worked for me, I just wish I would have seen your post earlier,
instead of on YouTube
This worked!
I found this discussion helpful. I thought that resetting all settings was too extream considering that the error 1004 is an access to gs.apple.com problem and just resetting network settings did the job on an iphone that had been getting the error for several days.
I have wrestled with this off and on for two days...resetting, etc and nothing worked. This simple fix worked like a charm! Thanks Pahedrus73! I am back in business!
Thank you very much David. My iPad has been having this problem for a few days, and nothing else I tried worked, but your solution worked the first time.
Thanks Again.
David's answer worked for me as well. Always try the least intensive suggestion first. If it doesn't work? Try the next one.
Thanks gezuvor Did steps 2-4, rebooted and worked. error 1004 no more
Thankyou, after searching for a few hours I tried many things, but this is the only one that worked.
Clearing Safari's cookies fixed it for me. Wacky.
David is absolutely correct- clearing the cache/history/cookies corrected the issue. Thanks for the tip!
Same fix here. Changed city to something else then back.
I purchased a pre-owned iPad and was getting this error sporadically. Restarting didn't help, software is up-to-date, I did not mess with Safari cache, cookies, etc. However, along with several others in this thread I simply updated the security code on my credit card and the problem was solved. It could be that updating anything with the account solves the problem, i.e., it refreshes the data.
But I also wonder if having two iPads running simultaneously could create the problem. Perhaps the App Store only likes one login at a time?
Don't think it has to do with more than one. I have 3. The two that are kept updated got the error (cleaning Internet cleared it) but the one my 4 yr old uses that I haven't updated/synced in probably over a year... Did not get it. Hmmm :-)
clear out the cash and cookies and then it will downloaded the App.
+1 Good solution!
This fixed my error 1004 problem, thanks for sharing!
