THANK YOU, Chris! I was beating my head against the wall with this problem after we were forced to change apple ID to a full e mail address. But it would not give me option to change it on my Iphone when I tried to enter my ID and password....your answer was simple, but I would never have thought of that! I have now changed my Apple I D on my Iphone and apps are updating now! Thanks

I am facing the same problem .My universityu send me the ipad with some books in the books ibook section . I have updated the id with my own and i can istall new apps with that but when i go to update the already present three apps (dropbox , ibook and one other) it shows me the old id and just asks for the passord of it . The old id is from the university i think that they might have used .

SOLUTION

You need to reset both your ICloud Email account and Store Account.

IPHONE

ITunes Store

Goto Settings>Itunes & App Stores>Click your Itunes Login Name>Sign Out.

Sign in with new Apple ID.

ICloud Exchange

Goto Settings>ICloud>Delete Account.

Recreate the ICloud Account with your New ID.

I think the problem everyone assumes the login ID to get into the phone is the same as the Email login, and that is just not true.

When I changed the ICloud Exchange account, I was then prompted with my new Email Apple ID account.

Hope this helps.

Anyway I fixed it by going to settings then iCloud... At the bottom there is the option to delete account. Do that and save the data (contacts etc) to the phone. Now go back into iCloud an set up a new account with my correct email address and password. Ever since then I haven't had the 'enter password' box appear at all.

Don't think anyone else has suggested or tried this from what I've read... It seems everyone is trying to do it in the App Store when it's iCloud requesting the login?!

This is the post that helped me out of the problem.. Logged into the account I wanted to delete and did what this post says and deleted it. i got this bookmarked just in case. ..

And Chris in CA .. Don't quit your day job.
