No audio in slideshows

Hey there.

I'm using Apple's latest version of Aperture and have no audio in slideshow at all. That goes for...

...slideshows that were imported from iPhoto (and play back with audio in iPhoto just fine).

...slideshows taht were created in Aperture, using the music that belongs to the chosen theme.

...slideshows that were created in Aperture, using any other music that came with Aperture.

...slideshows that were created in Aperture, using music from my iTunes Library.

I already made sure that the box for audio playback under Aperture-Presets-Slideshows is checked.

Also I made sure that all the songs that I want to add to my slideshow can be played back using the "audio browser" in Aperture.

Switching from iPhoto, I also already found out, that it's not enough to choose the track you want, but that you also have to drag it to the filmstrip; which I've done.

The audio doesn't play back in the slideshow preview, as well as the "real" slideshow, as well as any exported movie.

Help of any kind would be appreciated. For now I can export my pictures to iPhoto and create the slideshows there... but in the long run, I want to get away from iPhoto. 🙂

The Application Support folder I mentioned is in your Home/Library folder not the system level library folder.

I don't know if its related to this problem but not having the com.apple.Aperture.plist file is definitely not right and makes no sense as a bare plist file is installed during the installation of Aperture plus Aperture will re-create it if its missing. When you did the re-install did you use the dmg file that you had already or did you download a fresh copy? If the later I would recommend re-downloading the trial and installing that.

Also I'm not sure spotlight searches in the Library folder by default. To search open your Library folder in the finder then type in com.apple.Aperture in the search box restrict the search to LIbrary

Okay, so you tried this with a new user account. I'm assuming that you created a new library when you did this, but then I was thinking that if your library is located on an external drive, you could have used the same library. So, in the interest of thoroughness, did you try creating a brand new library?

And I'm not sure if you said this before, but has audio worked before in slideshows? Was the slideshow in question created before an upgrade?

In the interest of thouroughness I tried both: using the already existing library and creating a brand new one - with some pictures I downloaded off of my flickr account, just to make sure that it has nothing to do with my files (I really don't know what could possibly wrong with them - but by now I'm at a point of desperation where I consider everything possible.)

I don't know if audio in slideshows in Aperture ever worked. I bought Aperture when 3.1.0 (I think) was the newest available version and never tried to create a slideshow since then and up until now.

I have one slideshow that I created (without audio) with 3.1.1; all other slideshows were either created with the latest Aperture version or were being imported from iPhoto. The imported ones work fine in iPhoto but play back without sound in Aperture.

I'm part of Apples developer program and as such have a Mac Mini running Lion on it, too. The library works fine with Aperture 3.1.2 on 10.7. Thinking about upgrading my main machine to 10.7 now...

On the other hand: I just recently exchanged my MacBook Pro's HDD for an SSD and chose to set up the system from scratch so that it is as good as new... and I can't think of anything in my system that could cause this. Although the missing plist-files do give me headaches. Especially interesting to me is: where are my prefs saved, if not in the plist files? Because they DO get saved...

You aren't the only one!

I'm using Aperture 3.3.2 on a macbook pro retina display with Mountain Lion and I'm having the same problem here!

There's no sound in the slide shows! Tryed to reinstall it too, but, didn't work...

But even without sound, I made a slide show, put some audio track and exported it. When i played it on Itunes it was WITH sound!!!

Have you fixed your problem yet??
