Lost all my Notes on iPad 2!

I was on a 3 week vacation and took a lot of notes during that time. When I got back, I wanted to e-mail them to myself. When I brought up the Notes app all my notes (about 15 of them with a lot of details in each) had disappeared. When I called Apple Support they said I should have backed them up regularly and that the iPad is not a storage device (good to know!) Obviously, I don't take my desktop with me on vacation to be able to use iTunes to back my iPad up daily, right after I create my note, so I am not caught by this surprise. Of course, I can e-mail it to myself as a backup as soon as I create the note. But that assumes I have Wi-Fi access available wherever I go on vacation. So unless anyone has any ideas on this, I have just lost a lot of detailed information that I was going to use to write a travel blog. How does something just disappear from a device without it being deleted or without a serious failure of the component that persists it?

Very disappointed with the iPad and Apple, especially considering how jaded everyone is with this company and its products. From that statement you may realize that I am a new Apple product user and not as enamored.

I had the same thing happen .. I was playing with my gmail settings, and added a label to the IMAP setting where there was none .. bad idea .. my notes no longer showed up on my IPAD. So after reading this forum, I went to setup and changed the IMAP to blank. Once I cleared the IMAP label, I closed setup, closed notes, and when reopened, they were all there .. The also show up in gmail under label called NOTES .. when I add a note on my ipad, gmail gets a copy ..

Hope this helps ,

Michael

That's weird. Did you have a backup? If you had, you're safe. If you don’t have a backup, you cannot get your notes back, unless you use professional recovery software, such as this tutorial to recover lost iPad notes. That said,do your own research. You may find other solutions too.

In the future also keep a written record of your most important notes – the good old way! : )

I Have had the same type of problem with "notes" since I've owned my ipad 2. The easiest solution for me was to login to my yahoo account and open up the page with trash, sent, drafts and junk etc. There was a folder called notes and sure enough it had every note and backups when changes were made as well. I believe it was a miracle without question. I have copied the notes from my mail and hit the plus sign in notes and pasted the copy. Bang there they were again. I have a 64gig ipad so data should not and is not a problem. I think that the app must have limitations. I have the notes plus pop up from time to time when searching Google for answers. I also remember cloud as another place to look. Obviously, with no WiFi these solutions won't work.

hope this helps
