From what I've seen at various other blogs/pages/sites it's a world wide issue. It would be nice if someone from Apple were courteous enough to release a statement. At least acknowledge the problem here online....would probably alleviate the millions of calls I'm sure they're getting right now. Whatever happened to consideration for the customer? I'm courteous enough to drop $700+ for an iPad....you would think that buys you a bit of consideration from a company these days.

Same error 5002 on my iMac here in Holland. I can't even change my preferences.

I also can't downlaod any Apps on my iPad. But on the iPad it briefly shows the icon with the text "waiting" and an empty download bar. But it disappears within a second. Normally after entering my pw, i can downlaod other apps without entering it again. But now it keeps asking for my PW.

Possible solution:

Just resetted my password (https://iforgot.apple.com)

The site is terrible slow at the moment.

I created a new "strong" password.

Now I seem to be able to log in again, but I need to confirm my payment settings :9

21:08 CET: I did some updates on apps in iTunes (on the mac) 🙂

21:10 CET: Updates on my iPhone also work and I could install a free app 🙂

21:10 CET: Still error 5002 when I try to rent a movie 😟

Can someone verify this?
