It would be more like a downgrade than an update. An app would be handy but I assume there may be licensing restrictions.

It is really just a symptom of a system that was in a different hemisphere from cutting edge from the word go. It has never really been supported or updated other than a map once in a blue moon, and that takes hours to do.

So I have an IPHONE 5 software v 7.0.4 and a new 2014 CLA 250 with media package. (LOVE THIS LOADED RIDE)
Pairing for bluetooth is not an issue...can't seem to use pair my phone's hot spot for internet use in the car....the trial of the internet that come with the car is soooooo slow...no way I'm going to pay for it on a monthly basis....help!! Want to figure out how to use my phone's hotspot for data on the Command program...with the multi media pac...not getting answers from MB on how!

Just enable the personal hotspot in settings on the iPhone. And ensure that you have it connected via Bluetooth already. Then in the online part on the command system it can make the data connection by selecting it at the bottom left. Works absolutely fine, and nice and fast on my 4G enabled iphone 5S.

Excellent 🙂

Don't know how you upload speed cameras. On my GL Class is has a front camera built-in which scans the road and overlays both on the satnav and also on the information display changing events like variable speed limits. Together with the radar distance function I find myself keeping to the speed limits much better now...

Hi

I bought a Mercedes ML250 today (late 2012 model) the garage updated the software on command online so I have the new one update they released this month.

I paired my iPhone 5s (O2 UK is my provider)

I setup the correct profile but it says connected phone does not support data communication. I too tried enabling tethering from settings menu but it still does not connect?

Good luck to you. I bought my CLS350 new in September 2012 and still haven't managed to get the data communications working. I've tried everything that's been suggested on this site, but to no avail. I think the basic issue is that the Mercedes firmware we have supports a pretty old and out-dated version of Bluetooth DUN which the iPhone does not. I've pretty much given up now, but if I do ever get a solution (which, I believe, would have to come from Mercedes), I'll post it on this site.

Rusky, that update is just for the stand alone Merc bluetooth module, the thing you use if the car doesn't have bluetooth. It won't help here I'm afraid.

Regrettably, the Comand Online systems made before June 2013 only work with the old DUN system, they won't work with PAN and therefore won't work with the iPhone. This is a Bluetooth hardware issue and so there won't ever be a firmware update that can fix it. The only option is to either hope that someone brings out a DUN app for the iPhone which lets it support DUN (like BlueDUN for Android does) or get a cheap PAYG phone which supports DUN, like say the Nokia 301 and just use that when you want to connect to Comand Online.

This ***** because I really like the feature that lets you plan routes on Google Maps and then send them to the car navigation system over the Internet. It's particularly good for motoring holidays when you never want to go the fastest or shortest route, but plan a scenic one. Mercedes should be ashamed fo themselves for bring out a £3000 system that doesn’t support the most popular phone in the world, but they'll do nothing about it, so we're all stuffed. Sorry it's not better news. 😟

I have been a victim of all this rubbish and had to buy a new car means a new merc 2014 E coupe. Everything works fine, in this model. In fact its drives 100 times better than the last model.

Any ways, there is good news for all command online users that is CARPLAY. Soon Mercedes is coming out with an external hardware solution which will link the iPhone with NTG4.0 4.5 4.7 5.0 and everything on your iPhone will be played.

This is an authentic news.🙂

The hardware you're speaking of (it's called "Drive Kit Plus") is alreay available for my car here in the UK. Unfortunately however, it doesn't cure the problem. Drive Kit Plus lets you put your iPhone in the glove box and uses your Comand screen to control it and use various apps on it (including Garmin SatNav) but it's an entirely spearate system just using the screen of your Mercedes to display the iPhone via a custom app interface. This effectively makes your Comand system redundant and just being used as a screen with the iPhone doing everything. You could get all the same features just by mounting your iPhone in a cradle next to your screen and connecting it via the media interface.

This still won't allow you to use the Mercedes Online functions that are in your Merc from the factory, including sending routes via Google maps.

Your 2014 Merc will already work fine with iPhone though, lucky you!.

Oh ok. DrivePlay seems to do exactly the same thing as Drive Kit Plus so it's an interesting move on Mercs part if they offer two similar solutions. Still not sure how it'll make the Comand unit able to connect to the internet through the iPhone as it's a bluetooth hardware issue and DrivePlay is just another software wrapper, but I hope you're right.
