Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

My iTunes account has been emptied by "Kingdom Conquest" when i don't even have the game.

This appears to have happened to many people, what is being done about it?

My account was hacked too this weekend. I got two emails from Apple saying purchases had been made by my applid on devices not registered to that id....and to change my password if I had not made those purchases. I did change my pw on the 9th of July. Then today I got another email with a purchase under my applid if of 22.97, which wiped my gift card balance to 21 cents!!! I called tech support and they opened an Express Lane ticket with support, but I have yet to hear anything. I had orignally replied to the first 2 emails that I did not purchase the items listed but did not hear anything. I also opened a chat with support Saturday night and was basically told just to change my password, which I had already done. No one seems to care that my money was stolen! Thank goodness I did not have a cc number on file. Whomever is doing the hacking has managed to circumvent 2 passwords. The second one was almost random, so it seems they must have a cookie somewhere collecting the info. I changed my pw again today after talking to tech support, but I don't have much faith it isn't compromised either. I am afraid to load another gift card into my account. Apple will be loosing money from customer purchases if they don't stop this. I don't use my iPad except at home or work where there are firewalls out the yazoo. I don't use it as a mobile device. It seems there are many customers getting hacked based on this chain, so why isn't Apple doing something about it?

Thanks for listening to my rant.

August 10, 2011 and it is still happening. I just lost $26.97 from my account today. I sent a complaint to both Apples and Sega about this. If you read the support articles on both sites, Sega is saying it is an Apple issue and Apple is saying you have to work with the Developer to get your credits back because it is an in-app purchase. I think Apple needs to shut down the app and shut down Sega for a while till they can get this under control.

I am now waiting to hear back from Apple support on the issue. That fact that this has been going on so long is just amazing. And why would they allow a purchase for an unauthorized device?

Yes. They basically accused me of "accidently" downloading the in-app credits. Then they accused my family or friends of using my ID. They have yet to take responsibility for allowing this to happen. It took 9 days and three emails to get my money credited back to my account. The quickest and most sympathetic response I got was then I carbon copied the Missour Attorney General and a local Consumer reporter on one of my emails.

Apple was nice enough to send me information on how to lock out in-app purchases from my devices. But they refuse to grasp that these purchases are not coming from the devices of the people who loose their iTunes money. They are coming from other devices. The email I recieved that tipped me off included this wording:

Your Apple ID, xxxxx@yyyy.com, has just been used to make a purchase in -KingdomConquest- from the App Store on a computer or device that had not previously been associated with that Apple ID.

The reason the device was not previousbly associted with the ID is because it WAS NOT MY DEVICE!

I sent the the suggestion that all in-app purchases should have to be verified via email, but have heard nothing back on this suggestion.

As soon as I use up the remainder of my iTunes money, I am moving to Amazon to purchase my music in the future. I have started using my phone more than my iTouch for my music, so I will just use Google Music for Android in the future. Apple is no longer the only player in this game. I now have choices.

This has also happened to me over the last few days. The app didn't download straight away as I was not connected through my router but connected only on 3g, as I didn't know there was a problem when I connected to my router the app downloaded by itself.

I changed my password straight away, I then had my account disabled and so have changed my password again. Now my question is who/where do I contact to make itunes aware of this and to claim my £5.99 back that was taken off my store credit. It took a further 1-2 days to receive an email receipt saying I had bought the app. very disappointed as itunes allowed an unauthorised device to download the app so why did the download go ahead if it was from an unauthorised source!!!

Not very happy but please can someone help point me in the diretion to get this rectified. I'm wary of even updating apps now due to antyhing else like this happening :|

Go to http://www.apple.com/support/contact/. Then you will need to chose the "Use Express Lane for iTunes Player and iTunes Store" link. From that page you chose the iTunes Store link and then finally chose "Purchasing, Billing and Redemptions". This will allow you to open a Support issue with Apple. You will need the order number from the in-app purchases. That can be found on the emailed reciept or in your history while in the iTunes store.

Good luck. They will eventually refund your money, but they won't make it easy and it will take a week or better before it is back in your account.

Yes it's still happening and yes they do scam visas, kingdom conquest, downloaded the "free" app which they tried to charge me for, my visa details were stolen and used, luckily only had a £1 in the account and bank refused payments but what a joke, it's been going on for months check all the reviews, just speaking to apple now about removing the charges they are trying to take off my iTunes account, was genuinely surprised by how slack apple have been, have emailed trading standards and they have replied saying they have had 100s of complaints about it, now the app is in the top 20 grossing downloads so I have emailed sky/BBC news about it, as well as sending emails to various papers

had almost $100 emptied by Kingdom Conquest - never installed it, never heard of it. The fact that all of these reports have KingdomConquest in common point to the fact that this not some brute force password hack - this has something to do with the app that can take advantage of insecurity holes in iTunes and steal passwords and money. Apple must know about it, judging from the number of complaints dating back for many months, they ignore the problem, while (reluctantly) refunding the credit and blaming the customers. THis is unacceptable - they should ban KingdomConquest from iTunes store immediately and make it impossible to make in-app purchases without email confirmation and/or waiting period.

The problem is not the customers, the problem is iTunes and the specific app, Kingdom Conquest.

Same thing to me as everyone else, i was charged about $80. I called apple and spoke to someone for about an hour and finally resolved my problem and recieved my refund. I notified the rep i spoke to about how this was a widespread problem and there were all kinds of posts about it dating back to june of 11, i asked why apple has done nothing about it. He replied that its not apples fault its our faults for not having long/difficult enough passwords. BS. get on your **** apple and fix this money/time consuming problem.

indeed - this is clearly NOT a problem of weak password - the issue is confined to a specific app. If they break the password, why not clean out the account buying other stuff? The fact that the problem is limited to Kingdom Conquest and Kingdom Conquest only is a very clear sign that the app is to blame. Not users.

APPLE, get your act together, unless you are getting some kickbacks from SEGA.

My iTunes account has been emptied by "Kingdom Conquest" when i don't even have the game.
