I cut a file folder in the shape of an L, then titled the computer (tuned off and unplugged) on its side. I slide the "L" in and out came the memory card on the first try!! I took the file folder and taped a piece over the cd opening so I don't do that again!

Buy a new -- this time funny -- sense of humor.
I should of ended my post with ;) sorry:)
If you have to take it apart, I recommend the takeaparts at ifixit.com
My wife got a piece of plastic wrapper stuck inside and I had to do this. Took about an hour all told to get in and out, and that was with working very slowly.
I did the same thing and found a very quick and easy retreival... I shut down my Mac and disconnected all cables. Then, tilted it 90 degrees to the right so that the CD drive was pointed downward and placed the edge of the pedestal on a soft chair so that I could hold with one hand while the CD slot extended out past the edge of the chair. With the other hand, I used a vacuum cleaner nozzle to suck the memory card right out.
The file folder works! I just tried it and succeeded on the first try. It helps if one person holds the computer and the other person uses the folder.
The vacuum cleaner suction did not work for me. The file folder idea worked like a charm. Thanks for the idea!
Totally worked, thanks! I had to do it twice but it was hassle free.
REVISING My October 14, 2011 post...

This really helped me Samns47! I've tried all manner of ridiculous, impractical fixes to retrieve my memory card and get my CD slot to work again. This resolved my issue in less than 2 minutes. Cheers mate. 🙂
File Folder worked like a charm! Best tip of the day...
Samns47, your "L" shaped folder idea worked like a charm. Since I was unable to lift my iMac Snow Leopard w/ the 27" screen I just kept it where it was and used the "L" , it took me 7 seconds from cutting the folder to holding the card in my hand! I saw a short video on youtube and they did it without tilting the computer. If it was not for you, I would have never gotten that chip out without having to take it to the apple store 40 miles away, so you saved my sanity and some $$$$$$. Thank you so much!
