What happens to iWeb when there's no Mobile Me?

You right. To claify for all including "Old Toad" a "subdomain" come to the left of the domain address like;

subdomain.domain.com and sub-subdomain.subdomain.com giving webaddresses of;

http://subdomain.domain.com/ or http://www.subdomain.domain.com/

and so on. A more expanded all be it a basic explanation; A website has three parts the type (HTTP, FTP, and others) then a left hand being the "domainname" "www.domainname.nnnnnn" followed by a "/" and the right side being a file location and name. "path/name"

Evey computer/network device on a IP network has a IP number and that number can be maped to a domain and a name (DomainName). (computer-1, computer-2, computer-3, printer-1, lazer-printer-2 and so on) each of the devices is part of a company say "my-company" and that company is a type of (internation, orgnazation, company in a country, a information source ect.....) ginving (COM, ORG, CO.nn(UK), INFO ect......) so my-company being a international company would have the domain "my-company.com" and subdomain computer-1.my-company.com, computer-2.my-company.com printer-1.my-company.com and so on....... off couse all these names would be behand a firewall and my be just internel to my-company but I may also deside to have two servers named "www" and "mail" giving the subdomain-names of www.my-company.com and mail.my-company.com. off couse I may deside that I don't want to admin hassel of these two servers so I have them hosted.

This is a lot of information to give and much more than perhaps should be given but I hope it clears some things up. There is lots more information to give but hears not the best place to learn it.

"http://" Type of service "HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, FTPS, Telnet, SSH and others prefixes" tell the browser how to deal with the file it is receiving/getting.

"web.me.com/" Domainname (Including a subdomain "web" and is the name of the server your website is on and translats to an IP address some intresting things you might try are (open a termainal and type "nslookup web.me.com" and you will get the servers IP then you can replace web.me.com with it's IP address and your site will still come up) e.g "HTTP://2.20.92.59/myid/welcome/mainpage.html".) (or if you run "Network Utility" you can try lots of things.) sorry for the spelling I am dislex.....

Wonder if you ever made those tutorials? I am looking for a way to do multiple columns on Sandvox like I have on my iWeb website http://www.johnnyrobish.com. Sandvox support tried to discourage columns, but did provide a great explanation about why iWeb is lacking as a website builder. They said iWeb is like a jpg that you can add to, but words are not readable to (SEO) to draw search engines to your site.

Do you know that you're using a non - Web Safe Font in your website and for those computers that do not have the MonaLisaSolidITCTT font the website will look like this?

With Flux you can put text boxes anywhere you want and use any font you want by adding the font to a font folder with the website and using that font from within Flux. You can drag and drop the text boxes (actually empy <div> </div> containers anywhere you'd like on the page. This videocast at YouTube shows adding a few containers to a page: Flux Tutorial Part 1 - YouTube. It's a bit disjointed and unprofessional but does illustrate the multiple containers. Flux 4 is now out with new and supposedly better features.

You can do the same sort of thing with an iWeb Snippet...

... although its a lot easier to do this using an HTML editor app since the styles can be added to the main stylesheet and the div or paragraph given a class to reduce the amount of code on the page.

If you like using iWeb insted of Sandvox you still can even when MobilMe stops iWeb will still work with another Hosting povider.

I don't think that will be the case once Mountain Lion comes out. At least that's what I hear from AppleCare people. Personally, I never used MobileMe as a web host and thought it sucked, but I was hoping that iWeb would be around for a while. Of course, if you don't upgrade to Mountain Lion I'm sure you could still use iWeb, but who wants to not upgrade?

Thanks for the tip about my font. That's kind of you. It makes me sad because I really LOVE that font. Oh well. I'll take a look at Flux 4.
