What happens to iWeb when there's no Mobile Me?

I was disappointed to learn that Apple will turn off Mobile Me next year. I'm a teacher and I liked using iWeb to create a small website for my classes (Homework, Activities,etc.). It was easy and the pages looked OK to me. I haven renewed my Mobile Me subscription when I bought a new iMac in January. Now I have to go through a bunch s__t to get a refund.

I am not interested in iClouds, iPhones, iPads, etc. I just don't want all the extra stuff. I just liked having an easy to post a website and create decent looking webpages.

You have to pay for iCloud, right? If I don't use and don't intend to use any iOS devices, what good is iCloud? Does it have any value?

What happens to my iDisk after June 30, 2012? Does it disappear?

Will iWeb be killed as well? I am told that you can publish webpages with iWeb to 3rd party sites, but if the application is no longer supported, it won't be long before it won't work correctly.

Are there any applications as good as and EASY as iWeb to use?

iBook G4 / iMacG4 / iMacG5 / / Mac Book Pro/ eMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Well, Apple have already replaced MobileMe with iCloud - the two working together until the end of June this year. iCloud will NOT host websites, so no hope of hosting from Apple there, which is exactly why these new companies are springing up to fill the gap in the market.

iWeb will continue to work and I still use it.

Have downloaded the free trial of Freeway Pro just to see what it is like.

Not true! if you have an older Mac and not compleat if you have a newer one. Let me explain;

1) MobileMe setup on SL and older was just a matter of using one System Pre's pannel, with iCloud you have to change the settings of each app manuley/indevigley (sorry for the spelling I am dislex.......) In this respect iCloud dose NOT replace MobileMe.

2) There is no web hosting in iCloud

3) as for this "June this year" meany people say this as if it's some sort of consolation prize! it's not. I can't even use this route to get onto iCloud. If I could get a MobilMe account then I could move to iCloud but I can not join MobilMe so can not iCloud. (before any one says "you can use................Lion,iOS5" if I could use Lion I would but my MacBook Pro is only a "Core Duo" and not "Core 2 Duo" or above and my iPhone is only a 3G.

Thank you for your idear but it is not as clear cut as that. E.G. If you don't know/can not spell a word then using a dictionary means looking down lists of 100s or words to find the right one! I have liveed with this for 46 years and have had meny of thous years with teachers and helpers. But this is not the place for a discution on dislexer.......

If you wish to talk about this please e-mail me.

P.S. you understood the word I was trying to spell so no problem.

Back on track; As a dislex.... for me the point is MobilMe or iClous is the System Pre's pannel and for SnowLeopard there is no iCloud System Pre's pannel to replace the MobilMe one. This is inportant as I can get the spelling of something wrong more than once on one page letalone entering the same data in more than one place. (yes I know about Cut and Past but often the data is slighley diffent (port address for instance))

That's not very kind, we all know that TopSteve is dislex and his messages are always clear enough to me. What's important is that one understands what he writes and not to tell him off. It would be a **** of a job to look up the spelling all the time.

Now back to the subject : I've just bought Sandvox which is a very good alternative to iWeb, you can download a free trial.

Not sure you read or understood my post at all - if you read it again, I did actually say that iCloud Does NOT host.

I was talking about the alternatives that have sprung up such NewMobileMe to fill the gap in the market.

I did read and understand your post and I am sorry but I was only answering the first sentance that started "Well, Apple have already replaced MobileMe with iCloud " I am sorry I did not think about answering the secound sentance contaning "iClous........" as your RIGHT!

This is not the place to talk about dislexer but as your the secound persion to raise the point I feel I must put and explation. I will be putting a webpage togever and will put a link to it in my profile but in the mean time.

Why do you think I say at the start of evey 5th or so post "sorry for the spelling I am dislex...."? consider that question tacking into account the flowing;

Working with computers for 26 years and having a Higher National Diploma in computer hardware and software engineering as well as a city & guild in electrical engineering. I do know about spell checkers, infact the one in OS X is avable to all programs.

Part of the problem that the dislexer I have means that I can not reconize the right word even if I see it in a list and having a spell checker display a chouse of 5 to 10 words can make me more confused as to wich one is right and in the long term make my spelling and other things worse. The other problem is often website have time out fuctions that after I have gone though the process of spell checking and other checking the page is no longer vailid.

There was no disrespect intended. But you'd be surprised how many users here don't know about the spell checker. In the interest of expediency I often assume the poster doesn't know and offer the info. I just assumed that if you saw the many offerings you'd be able to recognize the correct one. Many spell checks only offer one, maybe two options. My apologies.
