It is unlikely that a future exists as iCloud, based on what I saw is tied to iOS5.

Since the 3G does not get iOS5, there is no future for it.

Time to upgrade that 3 year old device. 😉

Hi eddy,

Thanks for the reply. I have tried changing myname@mac.com to myname@icloud.com for User Name in Settings | mail, con, cal. Is this what you meant? It passes the verify and then connects. After that I now have no events on the iPhone at all. I changed the name back but still no events. If I change the password it fails the verify so I know that it is contacting iCloud. I have the Server set as p03-caldav.icloud.com, is this still the correct format?

Thanks, Andy.

For the correct p-xx server, see

http://sayzlim.net/sync-icloud-contacts-calendar-snow-leopard/

It is the same number for the carddav and the caldav servers.

BTW I remember having sometimes difficulties long time ago to sync my calendar and contacts with iCloud on my 3G iPhone when my iCloud password didn't follow required Apple rules AND ending by a number !

On the iPhone, in advance settings, SSL is on and port is 443. URL is of the form

https://p03-caldav.icloud.com/yyyyyyyyy/principal

where yyyyyyyyy can also be determined following the lines given in above reference.

It takes some time for the first synchronization to happen.

Verify also in Mail, contacts, calendar settings that "all events" are synchronized.

Hope this helps.

To Keithfromtoronto: Thank you for your Feb 18, 2012 discussion :Re: iCloud and my 3G phone in response to anto111ka. I followed your straight-forward instructions AND my old iPhone 3G now will sync iCal with my iMac running Mountain Lion via iCloud. Now I'll Tackle iContacts. Interestingly there are still those out there saying the iPhone 3G cannot use iCloud.

Tried ALL the various suggestions in this thread. Could get mail to work and contacts to sync fairly easily, but no success with calendars. UNTIL -

Go to : Settings/Mail, Contacts, Calendars

Select : Sync

Choose : Events 1 month back (instead of 'All Events')

BINGO! All calendars appear and two-way syncing with iCloud seems to be OK.

A very belated suggestion after months of frustration!

No idea why this worked, just grateful it did, and I hope this might help others.
