iPad dropped, now with red screen/background

Jim you rock! Thank you thank you thank you! Freaked out when my 4 year old dropped my iPad but with your solution not only did I fix it but it felt good beating something at the same time!!

Wow. I'm surprised how easy it is to fix. I dropped mine of the side of my bed and panicked. I found this thread and tried tapping the back of the ipad 2 about 10-15 times, I took of the case and on the second tap it was fixed.

just dropped my friend's iPad. She did not say anything but I was already working out the replacement cost And upgrade.

MY wife gave it a couple of slaps note to self do not be on the receiving end of one of those.

This is a Godsend! my Grandaughter dropped my iPad out of it's case to the tile floor, pretended all was ok and then my Grandson brought it to me and showed it to me. I freaked out! weird red dots, lines etc. I turned it off, then on and nothing. I came down and read your post. Went upstairs and banged it twice with a opened hand to the back and voila! all is good!

I dropped my iPad last night and was completely freaking out. I thought okay, just turn it off and check it in the morning. Same Red fuzzy screen was on there. AHHHHH. Then i went to Google Search, and this post came up. Thank the Lord for your comments. It worked! I am So, So, So Thankful i found this!

3 years later and this actually works. My friend dropped the ipad last night at the airport, Red Screen, Red everything! Read this and Voila!!!! I initially thought this was a joke, no...seriously I did but it actually works!!!

My iPad had the exact same problem and I had tryed dropping it and it didn't work so I kept trying for a while. I then tried tapping the back with a hammer and that didnt work either so out of frustration I just shook it really roughly and that seemed to work for me.

First - Thank u!!! Second - I have Ipad2. I did try to tab the back of it a few time the screen background went from reddish to some funny tone of green. So I decided to just pretend to drop it with the screen face down on my mattress and it worked!!!

My iPad 2 was a particularly fuzzy/swirly/rainbow screen after I dropped it. I tried various combinations of tapping it on the back and dropping it onto its back and went through the various greens and yellows described in this thread! What finally fixed it for me was a pretty hard slap on the back of the case with both hands.

Same thing here, had an iPad where red was the dominant color instead of the black, other colors fuzzy. I went ahead with the hard hit on the back and problem resolved. I was about to give up on this until I decided to google it and found this thread. Thank you.

My 14yo dropped his iPad2 about a foot onto carpet and the screen went black. He could still hear the game he was playing, though, and I was able to get it backed up to iTunes without issue. Same as others, the screenshot function would make the screen flicker.

Two good whacks to the back and it appears to be good as new. Awesome!

I thought it was fake when you tap/hit your iPad and it becomes like your old iPad, it really works!

I was getting so sad because I destroyed my iPad by dropping it on the floor(this is how it became all those wired colors like if you go to your keyboard it will be black or white but if it's not normal this it is red) But if you do this...

WHAT TO DO IF IPAD TURNS TO WIRED COLOR(MOSTLY RED):

Step#1: turn off your iPad, do not shut down, just turn it off

Step#2: turn your iPad around until you are at the back of your iPad, then you will see a apple, right in the middle(where the apple is ) hit it

Step#3: hit it as your hand is ready in a fight(ready to punch position)

Step#4: hit it with the side of your palm, it's really hard to say but that's what you do

Step#5: after you hit it a cople of times, turn on your iPad again, if the same repeat, if the same again repeat(Im not lying, it really works!!)

Step#6: if your not done #5 then do that until you see no more red or blue colors or blurry-ness! When you know your done, there should be no more ramdom colors that you don't want. YOUR DONE!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much! My husband has my iPad 2, and it suddenly turned red last night....he didn't drop it or anything, it just turned red. So, I tried the reboot, etc., and thought about it, and decided to check the forum.

Just went and got it and tapped the back a few times (not too hard) and it is fixed!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Don't know why it's fixed, or why this works, but it's fixed.

This discussion just saved my life lol ok it not my life but a trip to the apple store after the screen turned red on my son's ipad. He had been bugging me to go get it fixed and I just fixed it in a second , he thinks I am a Genius lol!!! Thanks!!
