Cracked iPad glass

Warning had my iPad for one month. It was a lovely gift from my family. Fell out of my hands to the floor. Did not take much for the glass to break. I contacted Apple Care. They had me send it to them. Just sent it back saying it was too damaged to repair.Any suggestion for getting it repaired? It still works in fact I used it even with the cracked glass. Diappointed in Apple...I was hoping that they would stand by their product. Also do they offer a cover for the iPad2 that would prevent the glass from breaking?

But they're trying to promote this for kids and students to use, to take to school as a replacement for text books. Does anyone honestly think that alot of these kids aren't going to end up cracking the glass somehow? If they're going to make a product like this so fragile, than replacements shouldn't be so expensive, especially after you already spend money on all the apps, games, videos, etc. And if you're going to come on a forum where someone's seeking help, than have something postive to say because it can happen to anyone and it could, and probably will happen to you.

so what about when you didn't even drop your ipad2. I closed my apple smart cover put it down on my nightstand went to check dinner. I came back picked it up with one hand on the lower right corner didn't even hear the glass crack. Then i sit down open the smart cover, light reflects on the screen there is a crack that arcs from the bottom to the side that outlines the placement of my thumb and the side of my palm as if I tried to snap the lower corner off. Call up Apple they will replace for $319 so how does that work.
