Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is corrupted or missing

it started when i updated the new version of iTunes (10.3) and when i connect my iPhone 4, it doesnt show up on my iTunes. I checked everything and i narrowed it down to Apple Mobile Device USB Driver under Device manager, i looked it up, clicked Properties and it says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)". I really dont know what to do with this. I cant connect my iPhone 4 or lets just say iPhones or iPods in general because im having problems with the Apple Mobile Device Software.

BTW, My iPhone and my iPods dont have any problems, they charge.

Thanks for your responses and help! i really appreciate it!

Nine months after you posted your fix to this issue, your response has helped me with a similar problem..after I've spent the better part of 2 days working on it. I followed your instructions step by step and, voila, my iPad is up, running, and happily syncing with iTunes. You have my sincere gratitude!

Thanks a lot! It solved my problem.

Just sharing my experience....

Actually my real problem is that I cannot share my internet connection with my desktop although Itunes11.0.1 can still recognize my Iphone. I tried solving it by uninstalling all drivers related to Itunes but it got worse. It did not recognize my IPhone anymore. Fortunately, I got into this page and solved my problem immediately.

Thanks again.

I had two devices IPod Shuffle and Nano not being recognised by ITunes. Installed latest version etc etc etc. Checked drivers etc etc very frustrating OS windows older PC

By chance I installed a 3 port USB hub on the un-recognised USB port and problem went away. ITunes see's both devices NOW and it all works normally.

Worth a try if you have followed the above with no result.

Hi

I had the same problem.I tried reinstalling itunes and most of the solutions provided by most websites none of which have worked.after a lot of searching I found that if you unistall the driver from the device manager and the installing another one from a different source (not by searching for hardware changes),

itunes will finally recognize your device.here's a link to the driver that I used.it's a little old but for me it worked.

I had a similar problem when connecting my iPod Classic to my recently upgraded Windows 10 64-bit machine.

Using device manager I was seeing the Apple Mobile Device Driver appearing and disappearing.

While it was there I managed to bring up the properties and noticed that the driver was one dating back from 2013 - this machine started off as a Windows 7 and has been upgraded from 8 to 10.

So Unzipped the latest ITunes installer (12.3.0.44) to a folder, double clicked on the AppleMobileDeviceSupport6464.msi and selected repair.

I now have a USB driver from 18/05/2015, with a version of 6.0.9999.67

Now my iPod Classic syncs with iTunes. Hooray.

Cheers David
