Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is corrupted or missing

it started when i updated the new version of iTunes (10.3) and when i connect my iPhone 4, it doesnt show up on my iTunes. I checked everything and i narrowed it down to Apple Mobile Device USB Driver under Device manager, i looked it up, clicked Properties and it says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)". I really dont know what to do with this. I cant connect my iPhone 4 or lets just say iPhones or iPods in general because im having problems with the Apple Mobile Device Software.

BTW, My iPhone and my iPods dont have any problems, they charge.

Thanks for your responses and help! i really appreciate it!

I have a Windows Vista 64 Bit Version

iPhone 4, iOS 4.3.2

Hello, I am having this same issue, except my apple mobile device usb driver was neverinstalled by apple when I downloaded itunes. I uninstalled and reinstalled from the apple website and it give me the same programs, none of which are the usb driver.

I never see anything about a usb driver for apple. I have completed several actions in these topics to try to get it loaded, but nothing seems to help. I have even attempted to download the workarounds that the other people suggested and nada. Is there anything you could suggest?

Sorry to piggy back on someone else's topic, but I can't seem to get an answer from anyone.

Thank you in advance and even if you can't assist.

Hi

I had the same problem.I tried reinstalling itunes and most of the solutions provided by most websites none of which have worked.after a lot of searching I found that if you unistall the driver from the device manager and the installing another one from a different source (not by searching for hardware changes),

itunes will finally recognize your device.here's a link to the driver that I used.it's a little old but for me it worked.

I had a similar problem when connecting my iPod Classic to my recently upgraded Windows 10 64-bit machine.

Using device manager I was seeing the Apple Mobile Device Driver appearing and disappearing.

While it was there I managed to bring up the properties and noticed that the driver was one dating back from 2013 - this machine started off as a Windows 7 and has been upgraded from 8 to 10.

So Unzipped the latest ITunes installer (12.3.0.44) to a folder, double clicked on the AppleMobileDeviceSupport6464.msi and selected repair.

I now have a USB driver from 18/05/2015, with a version of 6.0.9999.67

Now my iPod Classic syncs with iTunes. Hooray.

Hi yashamax84

No Problem - sorry I was in a rush to go out.

Some of the file names will change if you use a 32 bit version of windows.

  1. Disconnect any iPhones | iPods connected via USB
  2. Download and install 7 Zip from http://www.7-zip.org/
  3. Download the latest iTunes from: http://www.apple.com/uk/itunes/download/
  4. Right Click on the downloaded iTunes installer iTunes6464Setup.exe | 7 Zip | Extract to iTunes6464Setup\
  5. Browse to the iTunes6464Setup folder and you will find a load of files
  6. One of which will be AppleMobileDeviceSupport6464.msi double click on this.
  7. You be offered two options Repair or Remove - Select Repair.
  8. Let it do it's stuff.
  9. When you reconnect your iPhone or iPod it should now connect.

Cheers David

(Mutter mutter) error in the document, I think, speed. They're got 64-bit folks looking in a 32-bit location.

Try looking in:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers

Can you see your usbaapl64.sys there?

MLundgren.

I found the media device in my driver list. It wasn't using the apple drive but the windows 10 default. I manually updated the driver to the driver folder mentioned in this previous post and everything start working fine for my iPhone 6s. Thank you!

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with third party software.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
