How do I hook up my Laser jet plus 4 printer to my Macbook Air?

I have a Laser Jet Plus 4 printer that works great for me and I want to use it to print from my Macbook Air. How do I do this?

PLEASE, keep in mind that I am a novice with all this and technical terms mean very little to me, Sorry! I basically need step by step instructions.

I know I need a different cord because the Laser jet does not have a USB cord. but what kind?

I use Verizon Fios Wireless, still have a modem as I use my old desktop to print from at the moment.

PLEASE, in simple terms, can someone help me?

Thank you

Here is the link to the HP webpage for your printer.

On this webpage you'll find download and installation instructions for the driver.

As you'll see there is a driver for every OS.

If you have OS X 10.1 to 10.5 : select OS X

If you have OS X 10.6 or 10.7 : select OS X 10.6

(Not sure what OS X you have ? Click on the Apple in the menubar and select "About this Mac".)

Kind regards

Have OS X 10.6.8 and Apple says the drivers are installed.

I am begining to think that the Laserjet 4 plus will not work with this system, maybe not enough memory? I get a W2 INVALID PERS message.....maybe it is just the Laserjet 4 Plus "M" that works...

Very upsetting after buying this cord and I have lots of ink cartridges for this printer...it worked great on my old Dell Desktop!

Any other ideas?????

Thanks again for helping me!

FYI....I just changed the IP address on this printer and it is working! I do however still get the 4% printing and then it stalls, but I just have to unplub the USB and plug it back in, hit resume printing and it works!!!!!!!!!!!

So still have an issue to work out, but it is printing!!!

?

IP address has nothing to do with a USB connection, IP addressing is for Network use (which raises the question) does you L4 have a CAT5 socket on the back in addition to the parallel ?
