I am unable to update my apple tv gen2

where did you get the download link? can you share?

Also don't forget this same link is used when you plug into iTunes via micro USB cable. Like most updates this fix seems to be rolling out in certain areas first. Hope your one of the lucky ones!!!

I was able to upgrade my box to version 4.2.2.

Well for the others that are searching out this issue, its good to know it not just me. There are other posts that say they can't update the software. Last night the message for me said it was unavailable, today it attempt the download then gives an unable to update message. I attempted via USB and got the same results. Just need to wait and try again tonight I guess.

Happy to say I tried again tonight and the update finally went 🙂

But it is incredible, before I had the problem to download the ipsw for probably Apple server down and now the file is corrupted.

I hope that in the next hours will be possible to restore my ATV.

Mine is the same unable to restore through the atv2 unit directly or through itunes its getting silly now

After reading countless forum posts that the Apple TV 2 update process has been failing the last few days but working for others, I was getting frustrated. I wanted to update my device for the new Airplay features and I was desperate to try anything.

I am in OHIO and nothing appeared to be working. So I used my Witopia VPN client and connected to another part of the country until I found a spot the servers worked.

If you have the ability, you may want to VPN somewhere and see if you can get things moving again. It worked for me.

I'm having the same problem as everyone else. I bought my apple tv tonight, brought it home, hooked it up and everything was working. I wanted to utilize the mlb.tv feature but needed the update to do so and no luck. Kept getting about half way through the download and then getting error that download was unsuccessful. I called support and they had me use the micro USB to update it through iTunes and still no dice. The update downloads and during install I get a file corrupt error. I think it's pretty unbelievable that this problem has been going on for a few days and has still not be totally resolved. I'm in Florida so I am guessing the east coast is last in getting the corrupt file updated on the file servers for apple. Really not a good way to begin my experience with apple tv.
