I just noticed a shared user on my mac but I have no idea who this person is? Is my mac hacked?

HELP.. I just noticed there's a shared user on my macbook pro. What does this mean and how did this person get on my macbook? I have no idea who this person is and I would like them removed. I'm new to using a mac. Please help me. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi noahstrong23,

You don't have to do anything; no one has access to your computer.

Anything under "Shared" is basically your computer saying, "Hey, I see this other computer on the network. The computer says it might have files (or printers) that it's sharing with other people. If you'd like to view the files it's sharing, click me." (You'd likely need to know the username and password of the other computer to connect.)

This is showing you how to connect to another computer that is sharing stuff. It's not saying someone is on your computer.
