That's BS. FCP rewraps internally for other frame rates. You said it doesn't edit natively. That's crap. It does edit it natively.

If you mean it doesn't edit native .mts files, then no it doesn't, not at any frame rate. Editing .mts files is crap. The format is a crap format created by camera manufacturers with zero consideration for the needs of production. Rewrapping it to a better framework is the best way to handle this media.

Hello Kirpitis:

Is the direct 50p editing fluid or does it shakes ?

How long is the edited timeline ?

I use 1080p (50p) Panasonic TM700 video rewraped with Clipwrap (not prores, just rewraped to .mov) but noted that when timeline reaches certain size, video display gets shaky (but export is ok). I did that with short 6 minutes timelines but worried that with longer ones it will not be sustainable. Any indication based on your experience ?

As I know, FCP has supported 1080 60p and 50p AVCHD from most cameras for some time. If you can't import 60p/50p AVCHD footage to FCP, you try to encode AVCHD to ProRes before importing. You can choose ProRes 422 LT/HQ/proxy or ProRes 422 codec at 1080 60i, 30p, 24p as you like.I have used this way many times and my and FCP 7 didn't showed any message.

Hope enjoy yourself.

So, is it confirm now that with FCPX 10.0.5, FCPX can import directly AVCHD recorded from Sony NX70p at 1080p (50p) ?

I ask because I am thinking of buying the Sony NX70p or the Canon XA10.

Thanks

After latest updates Final Cut Pro X now supports editing 1080p (50p). FCPX now can also import 50p videos directly from camera (at least from SONY HDR-CX700VE). I use FCPX 10.0.5.

Hi,

Is the SONY HDR-CX700VE (also/still) compatible with FCPX 10.2.1, even though it is NOT listed in "Cameras supported by Final Cut Pro X" (Apple's site) ?

Best wishes.

This seems to be an AVCHD camera, so yes. These lists of supported cameras are necessarily incomplete, as there are hundreds or thousands of models, and many coming out all the time.
