Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Will OSX Lion still support FCP Studio?

With the disaster that FCP X is turning out to be, is there any indication as to whether or not any versions of FCP Studio will still work with OS X Lion? I have a sneaking suspicion that it will not, considering the approach Apple has taken with the FCP X release, but I haven't heard anything definitive yet. I'm hoping Apple will come out with some kind of statement regarding FCP X soon, because the way this release has been handled is absolutely bizzare. If there is no intention of continuing to support the professional community, just say so, and everyone can move on to something else.

Hallo Rich

Yes: sounds good. I'm not sure I understood all of it, but that's not uncommon for me in these discussion groups.

I upload from the camera to iPhoto presumably I've already preferenced where iPhoto keeps them have I ? Then import them from there into the browser. If you know where I could pick up such an iMac in the London area, price is secondary consideration for a mean clean machine .

There seems to be some difference of opinion on the Rosetta issue tho I've seen some posts by people saying they have actually done it and others saying its impossible. Perhaps the discrepancy is how the iMac starts out

You put FCP 6 on a mac that you bought brand new with Lion which had never had snow leopard on

it and you used Rosetta to install snow leopard, then

you installed FCS 2 and re-installed lion ?

John Lawrence

No, I had Snow Leopard on my iMac together with FCP 6. I then installed Lion over the top and then FCP would not work.

So I have now used Pacifist to reveal all the install packages on the Snow Leopard installer DVD and installed Rosetta from that. Final Cut Pro now appears to work and my machine seem none the worse for it!

Thanks,

Rich

The iPhoto library is always within your Home folder. In my scenario my Home folder is located on a secondary drive so iPhoto would copy the images to it's library there. I can however choose to not have the images copied and just keep them wherever I imported them to. I don't use iPhoto to manage my images preferring instead to do it manually using Image Capture. So what I'm saying is you could keep your images on any disk you like and then use iPhoto to reference them only just like you can with iTunes and your music files. You're basically telling iPhoto and iTunes where to look to find the files.

Regarding a pumped up used iMac, I may be able to help you. If you'd like to contact me direct then please do so. Email me on doublezero@mac.com
