What the iPhone requires is custom version of the rSAP protocol.
No!!!
The iPhone only needs a regular Bluetooth implementation and no castrated version like it has.
😁
It Seems Apple has a general problem in supporting "OPEN STANDARDS" - very poor job(s)....😢
Seems iOS 6 also has no rSAP support...
Not at all surprising since iOS does not use SIM cards to store any data and rSAP (Remote SIM Access Profile) is useless with an iPhone. It also can't possibly work with CDMA phones of any make.
Apple isn't going to switch to SIM storage, which is very limited and inadequate, just to satisfy an handful of car makers. PBAP (Phone Book Access Profile) is superior and is what iPhones utilizes.
Shame it is isn't included in iOS6 but I'n not surprised either. At least some of the Android based smartphones lets you have this functionality.
Also I disgaree with modular747 about PBAP being superior than rSAP. PBAP doesn't allow SMS messages being displayed or read on your car's console. Also the phone reception is far superior when you have rSAP enabled.
I'm glad I replaced my 4S for a Samsung S3 which allows me all the functionality of rSAP/PBAP and all the other 'industry standard' Bluetooth functionalites.
Wake up Apple and keep up with the technology rather than dictating what they think the consumers want!

Not so with a CDMA phone, eh!

So, why are you posting in a user-to-user iPhone tech support forum? (Rhetorical question). Troll on elsewhere, no one cares except your trollnest mates!

I did not understand what you wanted to say - why is the implementation of a complete standard Bluetooth protocol useless?
Apple Developers, please add rSAP to your supported protocols, you are loosing quite a big number of sales here in Europe.
Apple Developers, i only can support the request to implement the Bluetooth rSAP standard. I definitely like Apple products with 6 iPhones, iPad, Macboods and iMacs in the family. But i also have to work and therefore need the full telephone and data connection quality and the internal car Hotspot functionality of the up to date Audi MMI system. For business users the missing rSAP is absolutely annoying and not current state of technology. Without rSAP and the use of the car telephone hardware and antenna, we miss...
a. the reduced radiation inside,
b. the higher audio quality using the car antenna,
c. the better data connection quality using the car system,
d. the AUDI connected drive internet functionality with even some security features
With my wife and me just updating to iPhone 5-s, I never expected that this problemm would be still unsolved, but it is !!!
Please address that issue. As Apple shareholder and someone who otherwise loves your products this deficiency is just not understandable !
You're not talking to Apple. This is a user forum.
If this was such a critical feature to you, I would think you might have done at least a little bit of basic research before spending your money on new iPhone 5's.
Anyway - I bought a Samsung S3 last year and very happy with all that "open Android stuff" including rSAP!
😁
Good for you. So why are you hanging around being a troll on the iPhone forums?
I don't hanging around this forum. I only got a reminder through mail while others were also looking for some more open support from apple. I want to let them know, there is a solution with other Smartphones.
And in my oppinion this is the sense of a forum - to give some answers, how a problem is solved.
