hwmond high cpu load after 10.6.8 update

hwmond is causing up to 70% cpu load after every reboot on several xserves i manage caused by the update to 10.6.8. anybody else having this problem? it can be solved by hwmond -s5 to set the hwmond interval to 5 seconds but this command is not processed properly, is causing an error message "IOConnectMethodScalarIScalra0 call return err = 0xE00002BC" and has to be exited with cmd+c. Also, the com.apple.hwmond.plist in LaunchDaemons is empty.

To add one more voice to the successes, after installing the Mac OS X Server 10.6.8 Combo Update v1.1, hwmond is back to normal. No CPU usage problems, indicator LEDs appear to be working fine.

It would have been nice of Apple to list this as fixed in the update information, though. I couldn't see it mentioned anywhere, which seems to be fairly typical of their documentation habits at the moment.

Just a reminder: if you have used launchctl to unload hwmond with the -w switch, you will have to load it again using the -w switch. I had disabled it on my servers per the earlier posts; after applying the patch & rebooting hwmond was still not running, so I ran:

#> sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.hwmond.plist

and it was back, and running at normal levels.
