The share menu is greyed out
Just made my first edit inside final cut x, but the share menu is greyed out. Apple+E is not working and not of the options are showing. I'm i doing something wrong, or is it my installation?

I am having the same problem but not sure what is causing it. I have the final cut pro X application saved in the application folder. The entire share menu is grayed out. Can someone please help?
I have uninstalled and installed multiple times and still can not get the share menu to work. It is completly greyed out. Am I missing something here? Final Cut Pro X is in my application folder just like in installs. I'm still not able to export. Anyone have a suggestion?
As I put on the other post - have you guys tried trashing your preferences?
Download Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager (free - and quite safe).

With Pref Manager, you can backup the Prefs first, then if trashing makes no difference, you can restore all your settings. It's frequently used when FCP X'goes south'.

I suggest you create a new account on your Mac and open FCP X from there. If the problem goes away, you have a conflict between FCP X and something else on your system drive - do you have FC Studio or Final Cut Pro on there by any chance? (Not recommended).

I tried those suggestions weeks ago. . and no I don't have FC Studio or FCP. This was my first try with Final Cut. Very frustrated and about to request a refund. Oh and I didn't double post in one thread. It was a different thread so I posted the same reply. Sorry. . thought maybe somone in the other thread might be able to help as well. Didn't realize it was such a touchy issue.
I fought this problem for weeks before I started digging into the contents of FCPX and found out that I was missing the entire Plugins folder. Motion was missing it too. Luckily, my install of Compressor had it, so all I had to do was copy the Plugins folder from Compressor and paste it into FCPX. Worked like a charm!
macuserblitzz5,
Have you since found a solution to the greyed out "Share" menu? I have the same problem and have tried everything I can think of. It started when I upgraded from 10.0.1 to 10.0.3
I was able to go back and use 10.0.1 and that works fine. It's just that FCPX 10.0.3 has a greyed out Share menu.
I've tried re-installing it and everything under the sun. I'm getting the feeling that my Mac is too old? Maybe I'll look into system requirements after I wite this.
Click in the timeline...or even select one of your clips in the timeline...or
go to the projetcs section and select a project by clicking it ONCE.
The menus will become available ...usually.
xfggfx,
Yes, I am clicking (selecting) the timeline and/or any clip within the timeline. I also tried to select the project and the Share menu is always greyed out. For now I dumped FCPX version 10.0.3 and went back to 10.0.1 and it works just fine there.
Of course now that all my projects where 'updated' for 10.0.3 I have to start all over again re-creating my edits.
Could life be more frustrating?
Makes me think I will be a lot more hesitant about grabbing the next bug fixing version...%-/
SOLVED!
Or fixed rather...
I re-downloaded it from the App Store and I also started up Motion. I'm not sure if running Motion or re-installing FCPX did it but it enabled the share menu.
My guess is that the re-install helped
SOLVED - at least for my greyed out Cmd + E. I realised that it was my b-rolls had missing media and didn't import from the camera properly.
Went through a few forums and released that most of you out there were still facing the same problem with only reinstall as a solution.
My problem was some b-rolls media were disconnect, i.e. they weren't imported from camera completely. So what I did was recall and select the media that were disconnected in my timeline, right-click and "Reveal in Event Browser", then select the entire media, go to File > Import > Reimport from camera/archive then let FCPX to do its thing. I realised that if the media clips aren't properly imported, this option would be available. For those that are imported properly, "reimport from camera/archive" would be greyed out. Hope this helps.

Had the same problem. Adrian's solution worked for me: reimport clips in Event Library.
I don't understand any of this conversation.
I tried the "re-Link" but it never allowed me to relink. It seemed it didn't need to be linked.
But I also have the grey out like everyone in this stream.
Do I have to upgrade to latest FCPX?
If I re-install will I lose everything attached to my software? Meaning: all video content, and plugins.
I just can't re-install video from camera. I have spent 2 months editing 13 projects. And now I can't share anything. I also got rid of Mackeeper. I heard theat was a problem for it.
I need some direct soulutions if possible.
Thanks.
