You cant add chapter markers in X, major bummer. You have to do it in compressor, and yes idvd will see them.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I was referring to DVDeluxe as to supported by iDVD.

Yes, I tested it and the chapter markers show up in iDVD.

Are you sure iDVD will see them? I can't get it to work. They appear in iDVD all right, but the names are blank.

Wow, I can't believe it actually works!! At long last a good solution to the problem. Easy and quick to use. When I loaded the movie into iDVD it recongnised the chapters OK. I used the free version for QT .mov files only but well worth £6.99 for the full version that works with Quicktime, MPEG4, and Matroska (future update).

If you don't want to buy Compressor and deal with learning it you can also use AVT ChapterIt http://www.avt.scirius.com/ChapterIt.htm or SImpleMovieX http://simplemoviex.com/SimpleMovieX/index.var

I wanted to import my FinalCut X movies into iDVD with chapters and was looking for a simple solution. I ended up buying and using ChapterIt. It has some rough edges, but got the job done is a short time. I added chapters to two movies, one was 23 min 2 GB, the other 96 min 13 GB, with a total of about 20 chapters. It handled both but not before damaging one movie (it would not open Quicktime) but luckily I was working on a copy and could restart the process. I will be contacting the author so hopefully he will address the issues I came across.

Is this method of adding chapters easier or better than that which gets done in GB?

I can't believe FCPX doesn't allow chapter markers, pretty basic stuff, and with 1-2hrs of video who wants to FF to the place you want, rather VHS like, it's little brother iMovie has done it for years why can't this, think Apple programmer need to wake up to this and put a fix it, all this using bunches of other methods & programmes is just a waist of time , it takes long enough to edit video, come on Apple!

I imported ChapterIt files into iDVD and it recognized them!

I just bought FCPX to be able to edit 1080/50P material, that I could not edit in iMovie and now find out that it does not support chapters. I need them as I do long tutorials in mp4 format for IOS and Apple-TV.

This is a huge dissapointment...

Buy AVT ChapterIt. And read the discussion before you post to it.

Can someone please tell me when the apple software developers will add in chapter markers? Send us out a downloadable upgrade for it, please, I have clients waiting and I do not want to have to do all thes "work arounds" for software I paid $300 for. I mean how can apple leave out such a basic and very important funtion for dvd movies. PLease this needs to be addressed by apple asap!!! Thank you
