I would have never believed it that Apple would take out chapter markers. I have a simple 45 minute video for clients and want them to be able to select from a couple sections (of course we all know what chapters are for).

I normally wouldn't post about but unbelievable. I've sold Apple computers back in 1984 when the Mac came out. Completely moved away from Mac around 1994. I just purchased a new iMac loaded up. The first thing run is Final Cut Pro X. I was thinking it was pretty good until I got to the point of adding simple chapter markers.

Apple... please! Reconsidering my whole apple purchase now after just 2 days.

Hi

I may suggest the (very cheep) pay version of AVT ChapterIt from the App Store. It understands the XML Exports of FCPX perfect.

Just export a XML of your project from FCPX, with the markers set as you want them in iTunes, on DVD, etc.

Drag and drop first the movie into AVT ChapterIt, then the XML, save with Cmd-S and that's it.

Have fun,

Roland

PS:

- I am not the developer of AVT ChapterIt nor do I have any any other benefits. I just use it myself and I am extremly satisfied.

- AVT ChapterIt can of course much more than just adding markers from FCPXML.

Metadata Hootenanny worked for me. It adds chapter titles (or any other metadata) to Quicktime movies. So you export your Final Cut Pro X movie to Quicktime, open MetaHoot, add your chapters, and save the changes. Then you can open iDVD (or whatever), drag in your Quicktime file, and there are your Scene Selections.

I gave them a $5 donation.

Finally FCPX supports chapter markters! 🙂

From my point of view the only complaint is, that I had to wait over a year for this function since release of 10.0.0.

I used them at once and they are perfect and super easy to use.

No problems when exporting directly from FCPX and also fully functional exporting to Compressor.

FCP X has chapter markers now. Hopefully this link into the online doc for 10.0.6 will continue to work:

I have not tried using them yet for an end-to-end workflow, but will be for my next project.
