A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing...

Did this end up working for you? I've re-burned the DVD like 3 times to no avail. I think I'll start a new thread even

How many tries did it take, if you remember. I'm on my 4th DVD (2nd with 2x speed burn, however). Should I just persevere? I guess there's not much else I CAN do 😟

I had the CD/DVD driver required error when using a genuine Microsoft disc of Windows 7 (64bit). I just kept doing it until, mysteriously, it worked.

I had this same problem. I fixed mine by using a USB key that was USB 2.0 only. NOT usb 3. The windows install can not seem to deal with the USB 3.0 usb key. I suspect that there is a way to tell the bios of the MAC to only use USB 2.0 and not be USB 3.0, but I could not find it.

Please let everyone here know if it works for you, or if something else works.

I have now found a complete solution to this and many other problems with Mac computers.

Good idea, Windows runs well on a PC.

Glad you found a solution. I too have a Windows PC for those times I must relibly use Windows. I find that most of the time though my MBP works well.

I am stuck with using Quickbooks, so I have a PC, headless and MS RDC allows me to login and use QB. It works so well that I have not started a VM for ages. (I do not like the frailty of Boot Camp so never used it)

Painful to read a lot of these replies.

If you're using a USB device to install, make sure you have it plugged into your computer, not a hub or a wired Apple keyboard with USB ports.

I haven't tested a mac with USB3 but that also sounds like a plausible error.

Had the same problem. I don't have a non-USB3 key handy and I don't want to make a new key even if I had a USB2 one, so on a whim I tried putting a powered USB2 hub inbetween the iMac and the USB3 key instead of hooking the USB3 key directly into the machine, in the hopes that that Windows would then see it as a USB2 key and bypass the issue. Worked perfectly.

I had this same issue and shinratdr's solution worked perfectly for me. I plugged my USB3 flash drive into a USB2 hub, which was then plugged in to my iMac 27".

I also struggled with this issue on a Macbook Air 6,2 until I used a USB 2.0 flash-drive instead of 3.0. USB 2.0 was slower to load but the error was gone and installation went off without a hitch after the change.
