FCPS 2 work on Lion?

Any developers have luck using Final Cut Pro Studio 2 well with the new Lion OS X 10.7? I know I have heard FCPS 3 works fine but nothing about FCPS 2.

If Jeremy's solution does not work, try this one:

I use Snow Leopard [with Rosetta installed] in Parallels 7 in my Lion only mid-2011 Mac Mini to run older PPC applications that require Rosetta.

Within the Snow Leopard window, I can mount the Macintosh HD from the Mac Mini through the Go Menu in the Finder. Perhaps you can then install FCPS 2 in this way.

I do not have FCPS2 or MS Office 2008 (Intel apps that have rosetta installers), so I cannot try it out and see if it works:

OK so now it's 2014 and I just installed LiveType on a dual 2.6 intel power PC running Lion 10.7. Very simple solution as follows. Install FC Studio 3 on the Lion OS. Place a Snow Leopard OS 10 disc in machine after full install of studio and run Rosetta from the "optional installs" folder on Snow Leopard. When finished installing Rosetta, install any FC Pro program that was not made for intel processor. BAM there it is...

Flip: who counseled you to use that method? I am keeping track of FCP users who later report severe disk corruption "coincidentally" after using that method to install FCP (some times months later). Please note my email address and report if/when that occurs to you.

Jeremy: i have now been loaned a copy of FCS2 so that I can recreate your Text Edit method of installation. Please contact me , as I have some important necessary questions for you.

I have heard of that "corruption" problem, I do have a disk of Snow Leopard and upgraded it to 10.6.8. The Lion wanted to add another 2 gigs plus to the update stating "corruption" issues in some areas if I recall right, plus a bunch of other issues as well. I am re-installing using SL and Rosetta again, there are no issues with that OS and never were that I recall. I just bought a killer Mac Tower with dual 2.6 Intel processors, 12 gig of ram, 2 HD which was shipped to me in the origional Apple box. Not a scratch on it and been running with installs non stop for 2 full days. Price: 350.00. Just retired and figured to pick up some work on the side using FCP. Why not, I started with it from the first release and know it like the streets of my old neighborhood, shortcuts and all. Output is best video I ever seen.

I originally read this post and responded to it from my iPhone while out last night. After being able to now read it more clearly, I note the following comments:

1) There is no "intel power PC" - it is either a PowerPC, which cannot run Snow Leopard or Lion, or it is an Intel model such as the Mac Pro or iMac.

2) "Place a Snow Leopard OS 10 disc in machine after full install of studio..." If Final Cut Studio 3 has already been installed, why do you need to do anything with a Snow Leopard disc?

3) "... and run Rosetta from the 'option installs' folder..." Although I hate to repeat these words, he must mean "install..." as he notes later in the same sentence.

4) "... install any FC Pro program that was not made for intel processor." So which ones (any FC Pro program) required this method and which ones did not?

Actually this thread is about the problems installing Final Cut Studio 2, not 3 and quite honestly, it is the problem of attempting to install FCS2 in Lion, Mt. Lion and Mavericks, that I am directing my attention to.

LASTLY: Ignore my April 4, 2012 post. I now know from later experiences that it states some inaccuracies.

Michael: For my information, can you please clarify this for me.

I have heard some users discuss that FCS3 is an upgrade from FCS2 with two separate serial numbers: the original FCS2 and then upgrade to FCS3. To reinstall this version, one must install FCS2 and then upgrade to FCS3.

Do you know if there is a slipstreamed version of FCS3 that would install it in one step, without requiring an install of FCS2? Or must it always require installation of both versions?

dude, u need to fully read what is written and not look to pick issues that are not there. Yes, its a Mac Pro tower, excuse my ignorance for having to go thru 20 different Mac models the span of my career. But most here understood what I was saying as you did. Second, if you know FC Studio 3 then you would know it does not come with Live Type. Thus you install Studio first, or not your choice, and then install Rosetta of the Snow Leopard disk, and then install Live Type off the FC Studio 2 disk (I said 2 yes not 3), which is in the extras folder for stand alone install. So if you are having problems, read again. Now for FC Studio 2 you need to install Rosetta off Snow Leopard BEFORE installing it and after you installed Snow Leopard. But why use FC Studio 2 when 3 works better? Phew.....

P.S FC Studio 3 was also sold as a stand alone unit with it's own activation code as mine is.
