Thanks for promoting education. You are talking like that you really don't know what is called a 'Problem'. But people asking here mostly due to their problems and it always not usual occurance. So if you can't help them coolly then never said 'Rants are not allowed here' Right?

I thik that you are probably not fully aware of the cards type Apple offers on their iTunes account. In most of the countries you will not find 'None' option at first step. So in those country users must have to validate their account with a card. For examle I'm from India and I've only two options for cards type here: 1. Visa 2. MasterCard. No other options even PayPal.

My problem is same that I've been charged for 'FREE APPS'. Please don't try to guess any messy things like In-App or I mistakenly purchase a paid app sort of things. I'm using iTunes since 2009 and thus far have several hundreds of app purchased their and are mostly free apps. Since 2 months back I've been continously charged by Apple for free apps. Every things have verified from my side and now, right after here I'm going to ask apple for my 'PROBLEM' OUR PROBLEM.

Thanks

In most, if not all, countries you will find 'none', including India, if you follow these instructions for creating an account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534

e.g. for India

There aren't charges for downloading or updating free apps. If you add or change the credit card details on your account when downloading/updating apps then you will receive a temporary store holding charge - if they haven't disappeared within a few days or so then contact your card issuer and iTunes support.

I dont know what their deal is neither. I have over $700 worth of charges in the passed 60 days... started out 1 charged a day.. then 2... now they are hitting me 3-5 times a day for up to $14.00 a pop. I just cancelled my credit card with my bank and my bank is refunding my money. They said they have problems with Itunes all the time. When I checked my account there were no purchased music, movies books or paid games.... I dont understand where it is all coming from... I am going back to an Android based phone...

Have you added or changed your credit card details on your iTunes account ? If you have then each time that you do so a small temporary store holding charge may be applied to check that the card details are correct and valid and that it's registered to exactly the same name and address as on your iTunes account - it should disappear off your account within a few days or so.

I have had the same problem.

I have had my account for years and used it for both free and pay app's.
I got a call from my bank last night regarding what they believe to be a fraudulent transcaction on my account, it is only for £1.58 but thats not the point.

Now I did download a FREE app yesterday and as I did I got asked to enter the number from the back of my card, as I do whenever I buy a app for a cost, it didnt register with me at the time that this was a charge for the app until my bank called me.

I have deleted the app and looked again and it is most deffinitly FREE, I have however been charged, how can this happen, and how do I get in touch with a real person at apple to get this sorted.

i too had a same problem purchasing free apps and songs over the Chinese New Year promotion. i received an SMS from my bank to say that USD1.00 has been charged to my credit card for the song i downloaded, which was FREE.

i hope this is merely a temporary hold as mentioned in this thread:
