Hi,

I have the similar problem and getting charged every now and then for downloads.

It wont come under my Purchase history as well.

Also to make it clear I did not get money back even after more than 3 months now.

Holding means - Temporary not forever

Not Given back forever - Steal

And I am really not able to understand that if the App is mentioned as "FREE", why does apple needs to put a holding fee from my card and on top of it NOT giving it BACK ?

This is not business but cheating especially whn you have some information in written on the app description.....

I would request Apple to please sort it out, refund the money.

Else I am sure, as a consumer people do have options and choices.....

We are fellow users here on these user-to-user forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.

From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3702 :

As with many other merchants, the iTunes Store and Mac App Store places an authorization hold on your payment card account for the approximate amount of any purchase you make. If you update your billing information, the iTunes Store or Mac App Store will place an authorization hold on your payment card account, usually in the amount of 1 USD or the local currency equivalent, to verify your account information.

...

Authorization holds are removed by your financial institution shortly after your purchase clears. The time it takes to remove authorization requests varies by financial institution.

Have you contacted your card issuer to see why they haven't removed the holding charge from your card ? You can also try contacting iTunes Support via this page, but it should be your card issuer that removes it from your card : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/

They do charge you for the free apps. I just got a £3.16 charge for Facebook an EBay apps even though I made the conscious choice to download the free apps. I have an account with a cc linked to it because sometimes I download paid for apps but obviously if there is a free alternative I get that. So your solution is utter bull for me anyway I'm afraid.

ppeople are saying they are being charged by iTunes, first here's my experience Apple demand a credit card on file ,I don't like that , but they say I needin the case I need more space, however I'm a vocalist and I've purchased backing track on my computer then I dowloaded to my iTunes on my computer, now the majority of these songs I paid for but i found where apple iTunes charged me again for music I already paid for, transferred my song from my Mac to my iphone

when went to play my music all those songs said recently purchased, I tried to speak to some one in Apple about this, tried looking it up on the site with no sucess, I guess I must go to a Apple Store but this is a in in ience so then I must go through the red tape of proving whst song I purchased from other sites being charged again. Apple is stealing and I'm thinking to file something soon with BBB this is wrong same with the charging of apps thst say they are free, Apple is charging us, it maybe a small amount but it if they are doing to others what's been done to me that's a awful lot of money Apple is stealing g this is illegal, watch out!

The only time a payment method is required to be on an account is if you are a family organiser in family sharing. If you are referring to iCloud storage then you do not need to have a card on your account.

Depending upon how you create an account you may be prompted to enter payment details before the account can be used, but the card will not be charged (except for temporary store holding charges) unless you buy things.

proving whst song I purchased from other sites being charged again

You bought the songs from a different store ? What are you then doing with the songs and iTunes ? You will only be charged by iTunes for them if you are then also buying them from the iTunes store.

charging of apps thst say they are free

Apps that have a 'get' button against them are free to download, you will only be charged if you subsequently take out a subscription in them or do IAPs in them. If you are getting a temporary store holding charge on your card when downloading them and your card issuer isn't removing that 'charge' then contact your card issuer.
