Is there an iPhone antivirus App?

I hear warnings of virus and malware threats for smartphones, let alone hacking (all the media coverage here in the UK at the moment about mobile phone hacking!) I see that security software companies are offering software for Android and Windows Mobile phones, but can find nothing for the iPhone 4.

Searching on these forums people say the iPhone is safe so long as its not "Jailbroken" ...... what does that mean?

Is there an anti malware App for the iPhone? With all the protection that is needed for PC's venturing onto the Internet these days I do wonder with a phone that can do the same.

iPhone 4, Windows 7

Get this straight. Nothing is invulnerable. Even I have Norton on my Mac.

Far as I know, there's Norton Mobile Security for iOS.

Aside from the fact that I wouldn't let a Norton product within in ten feet of my Mac or my iOS devices, it's important to understand what the Mobile Secuity app does. It is not antivirus for iOS in the same way as the desktop verision is for the desktop OS. As there are currently no known viruses in the wild for iOS, no antivirus program has anything to detect that will infect. What Mobile Security and others like it do is prevent the iOS device from passing infected files back to Windows computers. That's all. If that seems important to you, by all means, install it. Just be aware of what you're paying for.

Excellent. What Apple actually need is some kind of application with push notifications or scheduled updating, shall we call it an "anti-undesirable-software app", which could be quickly updated if any "security flaws in the impenetrable fortress which is iOS 6" should happen to be found. Totally theoretical you understand. However I'm reasonably sure that a reputable company or two could be found to provide this service virtually for free. The current patching consists of optional iOS updates when your device is plugged in to power and connected to WiFi.

I don't see that this has anything to do with the original question. It's a legitmate company that makes expensive security solutions for large enterprises. It's what your boss might use to determine if you have hacked your iPhone.

As the US Department of Defense has just ruled that iPhones are secure enough to use on military networks THAT should answer the original question.

Security Metrics, Inc is a 13 year old $25 million company based in Orem, Utah. Do these faces look respectable? https://securitymetrics.com/sm/pub/aboutus/executives. I was suspicious of the first post, but the company does not have any products or services that an iPhone user might buy. And the link has nothing to do with the original question.

I'm always suspicious when someone signs up with a new Apple ID and immediately posts what appears to be an attempt to get free advertising for some sleezy software, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. But I'll watch for the next post.

Ditto. But the first post was certainly a put-off.
