Attachments sent from Mail do not show up in Outlook

Have been running into a problem wherein attachments sent from Apple Mail do not show up for Outlook users they are sent to. If I switch and send the same attachment via GMail for instance it shows up fine. Apple Mail locally shows the attachment as having been sent. Anyone seen this before or have any thoughts on how it might be fixed?

Thanks. The article refers to a problem with Exchage Server SP3 specifically, and not Outlook neccessarily. Although they mention Outlook 2010, the problem seems to exist on Outlook 2007 and Webmail as well.

Unfortunately, it would be difficult to convenice recepient organizations that the problem is with their Mail server, and not our Mail clients!

They would argue that they receive emails and attachements "just fine" from everybody else, except us Mac Mail users. What makes it worse, is that "it works" when you compose a new message instead of replying.

I have the same problem when sending JPEG, GIF, PNG attachments to PC users. One work-around that I use is to create an empty "untitled folder" on my desktop. Then attach it to the email along with the image. It's an extra step, but it seems to make the image an attachment for the PC users. It seems to work everytime.

Let me know if this works for you guys.

I am also running into these same issues and have found that it is not only attachements, but all past email communication (ie forwarded and replied conversations) that are located after my signature in Mail that do not show up on Outlook 2007.

Strangely enough when I attempt the same thing without an email signature (or if the attachement added is infront of the signature) all works fine...

Obviously it seems to be an issue on the outlook side of things, but in agreement with above, its not like I can convince all my Window loving friends and colleagues that this is the truth. There must be something apple can do about this!

I have outlook for mac on my pc and I will be switching back. Also the way mail handles attachments is not very good. They show up in the body of the document and if I have more than one they all show up. I can make them an icon and if I do anything to the doc it switches them back.

Any one have a better e-mail package for mac than imail?

Have started running into this issue, it just seems to have started for no reason.

Nothing fixes it, I have tried friendly and not friendly attachements, disabling previews, putting attachments at the end of emails, starting new messages and replying to emails etc etc.

The only resolution was to use either thunderbird or outlook for mac to send attachments.

Not a good look.

This issue has been going on for years. I keep thinking Apple is going to deal with this and they never do. When it comes to pointing fingers, we all know things aren't always what they seem. It may really be an Exchange or Windows bug/weakness, or not, but ultimately Apple needs to get it together and make this problem go away. Working in a Windows based work environment, I need to be able to send images frequently from my Mac. I've been zipping them, which works, but just adds to the complexity for the end user on Windows. I am wasting way too much time working around stupid broken functionality and holding hands with Windows users so they can get my attachments. COME ON APPLE!!!

I've been sending all of my mail with attachments as plain text (format/make plain text) per an earlier suggestion in this thread, I believe. That seems to work really well when I remember to do it. A bit annoying if you don't want to lose any formatting in the email chain.

Really wish these Apple folk would create a permanent fix for this!
