Help connecting ATV to my set-up

Hi all. I've been searching everywhere for help connecting my components together to our big screen. We have a HD DVR and PS3 that have been working through a Yamaha Receiver HTR- 6230 and then to our Sony TV that has one HD input.

I'm adding an AppleTV2 to the mix. I do have a Monoprice switch box HDX-501, and can use it if need be.

I've tried every connection possible except the right one to get all of this working with the right set-up and inputs. I've changed it so much that now nothing works.

Many receivers allow you to map an input to an output.

Check the HDMI cable is seated properly at each end, try another HDMI cable, but it sounds to me as though you've got your settings confused. It's difficult without being able to see what options you have, all receivers are different, have different options and often use different names for the same things.

Unless the receiver or some other component has failed, I tend to think you have inadvertently changed a setting somewhere. If none of your devices appear to work through your receiver it is probably your receiver where the setting has changed.

If you purchase a new receiver with at least 3 HDMI inputs you would eliminate the switch (and switches can be problematic) but I think you'll still need to learn how to set up the receiver to meet your needs.
