Hi Julian,

I spent so many days trying to find a situation similar to mine; until I read this. In the past, Apple allowed me create an apple.com email account as my apple id. A couple days ago I tried to change my apple id. I just wanted it to be my first name only or maybe a nickname (thought it was possible); and I ended it up setting up my primary email address (which is a live.com account) as my apple id. The system made me change password and everything. Now the problem I have is that every time I want to download a song or app from my iphone it doesn't let me. There's a box that pops up in which my apple id is already there and ask me for password. Well, the apple id it shows is still the apple.com one and off course my password now does not work. I just don't know where to go to change my apple id (apple.com email account) in my iphone....basically I can't do nothing from my iphone directly but it works if I connect my iphone to my computer and do it directly from my itunes.

Confusing?? Help please

Thanks

mine is @apple.com and im not an apple employee and im also not able to verify my email to use icloud etc. I've been using this ID for a couple of years now. would really appreciate it if you could assist me on how to solve this problem.

also like to add that as I've purchased many things on my current apple id i do not wish to create a new one. is there any way for me to actually verify my current ID?

As stated above, only Apple employees can use @apple.com email addresses. If you are not an Apple employee and created an Apple ID long ago using "@apple.com" then it's probably a bogus email, not really usable and you won't be able to verify to that address. Have you ever recieved email to that address?

As you have purchases with that account, the best thing to do is follow the instructions at "How to change the name you use for your Apple ID" and rename your Apple ID to a valid email address, and change the email linked to it to the valid email address as well. That way you can verify it as valid and keep all your purchases with that ID.

Hi,

The response to that would be "OK".

Your:-

i have the same problem

Tells us nothing about what has been discussed in this thread, which would be the info we would need to be able to help.

Start Here Which is the top of the Discussions tab in Using iPhone.

On the right is the "Start Discussion" option. Use that.

This thread started in July 2011 and was last used in 2013.

Since that time MobileMe has become defunct and "replaced" with iCloud which alters some of the answers already stated in this thread.

You could Copy the URL of this thread and post it in your new one and then answer or fill in some of the related info that people will need.

Hi,

Some emails are not allowed.

Some of the "Apple.com" ones are for employees only.

I don't recognise @apple.id.com being a valid one.

With thread this old it can pay to start a new thread and reference this one.

Hi,

With what ?

Presumably you have an iPhone ?

You have not told is that in any way - other than guessing by the thread you have joined.

Also presumably it also concerns the Mail app on the iPhone.

More info would help.

As the thread was started 3 years ago it is certainly going to pay to start a new thread and reference this one.

(copy the URL of this one and paste it in the new thread)
