Even it's a strange "update procedure", it's working now!

exact same problem, after 5 hours on phone with apple, they told me to do what is suggested here and it works!
I tried to import the libray to have it updated as suggested in an earlier reply, but this didn't work either. I get an error message saying: "The library could not be imported because it is from an out of date version of Aperture 3. Please upgrade the library to the latest version of Aperture 3 and try again." :-(
Try using the Finder to copy the Library to another disk drive, with free space at least equal to the size of the Library. Then try using Aperture to open that copy.

In reply to Ernie Stamper: I bought myself a brand new 1,5TB HD (formated in ...Journal...), copied the database to it and tried it again. Unfortunately with the same result. If everything fails I will have to extract the masters 1 by 1 (24GB).
