"Email address is already verified for another Apple ID" Problem

So today I wanted to organize my 2 Apple ID's.

My first apple ID is anferne@gmail.com and my second apple ID is anferne@me.com

Last year I decided to change the primary email address for my Apple ID: anferne@gmail.com to anferne@me.com and vice versa.

So now the Apple ID is anferne@gmail.com

Primary email address is anferne@me.com

The second Apple ID is anferne@me.com

Primary email address is anferne@gmail.com

So today my problem is I can't switch them back. I can't have the same email address as my Apple ID...

But it keeps saying the "Email address is already verified for another Apple ID" 😟

Help please?

your problem actually has nothing to do with the rest of the thread above. all of our problems have to do with verifying an emal address after deleting it from an old or shared apple ID for use in another apple ID. we are all getting the error that it is still verified under another apple ID even tho we logged into apple ID support page and deleted it. please be careful when posting to threads as we are trying to get apple to fix our problem and don't want them to get confused as to what our issue is in this thread.

I just spoke to Apple, and they were able to solve my problem.

Here's how it played out. In the beginning, prior to mobile me, etc., etc., I set up my Apple ID as follows:

Original Apple ID: andrew

E-mail address: foo@example.com

I then created a New Apple ID after signing up for iOS 5: foo@example.com as the Apple ID

This led to a problem where no verification e-mail was being to sent to foo@example.com

What I did was as follows:

Logged in as foo@example.com

Changed the e-mail address for foo@example.com to qwerty@example.com

Received verification e-mail at qwerty@example.com

From the verification e-mail, logged in using qwerty@example.com as the Apple ID (not foo@example.com).

After that step, I was able to free up foo@example.com

Then...I signed into appleid.apple.com as andrew and have foo@example.com and andrew as the same thing (they give you an option to do this) when you login as bar).

Add another name to the list.

I am trying to change the email address of my Apple ID and it is telling me that "Email address is already verified for another Apple ID."

So I logged into 'that' Apple ID (was actually never verified, and hasn't been used in 3+ years), and removed that email address from it.

But even though the email address is now removed from that old Apple ID account, it still can't be used in my primary one.

This really needs to be fixed if many services are now all based on your apple id and searching people based on primary email addresses.

Same problem here. Looks like Apple is beginning to show how it works after Jobs, and it's not looking good. I'm completely locked out of 5 years of purchases on the iTunes store, as well as unable to do anything with my apple developer account. My apps have problems on iOS 5 and I can't even login to provide updates for them.

"You must use an email address to login"?

"Your password must comply with this stringent set of rules"?

Think it's about time to consider letting apple go and cutting my losses on the music here before it happens again.

Same deal here.

iCloud/MobileMe ID: mobile@me.com & Email: name@gmailapps.com

Original Apple ID: name@gmail.com & Email: name@gmail.com

Original Apple ID was setup prior to MobileMe or .mac.

Signed up for MobileMe and used that email with Original ID.

Trying to match ID and email now and cannot. Removed all emails to do so.

Original ID works fine as name@gmail.com and name@gmail.com.

iCloud WILL NOT, and I have name@me.com and random email address.

TOTAL CRAP and very unhappy at the moment as I cannot use all the new features due to this.

yep same here. not a huge deal as some others, trying to use 'find my friends' and won't let me until i verify, but i can't verify because it thinks I'm using my me.com with my older apple id (used for purchases). My apple id did have my me.com address in it but i removed it, but it had no effect on fixing it (still thinking it's in use even though it's not now).

stupid.

FIX APPLE NOW PLEASE

Oct 13, 2011 11:47 AM in response to Anferne

Same exact problem here - "Email address is already verified for another Apple ID." Was on the phone with Apple Support for an hour trying to resolve it. They honestly don't know how to fix it. The solution is obvious - the verification history should be removed when the e-mail address is deleted from an apple id. The is obviously not happening programatically, but the Apple Support personnel don't have the ability to delete the verification records.

Needs to be resolved ASAP. What is the best way to go about doing this? Any ideas?

Folks, things are happening behind the scenes I think.

I tried yet again to add an email for facetime and imessage (basically associate it with my mobile me Apple ID after I deleted the addy off my old iTunes store Apple ID), and it worked this time!!!

For the past 24 hours, it has been saying it was already in use, even after I deleted it using appleid.apple.com.

However, the address that was already verified on that account, my .mac address changed from verified, to not verified....and it's saying I can't use that address for iMessage, even though I have been using it for the last 24 hours!!!!!

Oct 13, 2011 3:48 PM in response to Anferne

How? Come on man! I'm having the same problem... I think....

I started a few years ago with 1@domain.com, used it to buy music for forever.

Then bought MobileMe and had 2@me.com

I used the first for iTunes, and the second for everything else. I actually don't even know the password to the first anymore. But now all of the sudden it's a huge deal. It says the first email isn't verified, and when I try to do the mobileme one, which is want I want to do, it says the email address isn't verified. So I tried to verify it, but it says it's already verified by another email address (which I know it's not)

But I'm stuck and can't use anything at all.

Please, Apple, focus all your attention on a time machine and go get Jobs. Apparently he's the only one who knew what the crap's going on.

RIP Steve, we miss you so freaking much.

1. Figure out what Apple IDs you have.

2. Remove the emails you want to use from each of them. (Just make a temporary one if you have to)

3. Change them one by one back to what you want them to be.

Apple my be in the process of refreshing them on their end, so it may not work right away.

I basically used my MobileMe email with my original Apple ID, which messed it up, because I changed it and it still was registered with it. I removed the emails from both my original Apple ID and my iCloud account, then re-added the ones I wanted to use with each. You CANNOT use the same email with both at this point, though I imagine it may be something we can do in the future.

The result?

I have and original Apple ID with a username and password of name@gmail.com, and an iCloud account with a username and password of name@me.com.

I simply switch everything over to the iCloud, with hopes we can merge in the future.

I hope that answers questions.
