"Email address is already verified for another Apple ID" Problem

So today I wanted to organize my 2 Apple ID's.

My first apple ID is anferne@gmail.com and my second apple ID is anferne@me.com

Last year I decided to change the primary email address for my Apple ID: anferne@gmail.com to anferne@me.com and vice versa.

So now the Apple ID is anferne@gmail.com

Primary email address is anferne@me.com

The second Apple ID is anferne@me.com

Primary email address is anferne@gmail.com

So today my problem is I can't switch them back. I can't have the same email address as my Apple ID...

But it keeps saying the "Email address is already verified for another Apple ID" 😟

Help please?

I got this fixed today using iTunes Store Support Express Lane (https://expresslane.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.do?PRKEYS=PF4). Had an online chat session with a rep who got it fixed for me. Took about 10 to 15 minutes. It needed their intervention as it's not something that one can currently do oneself (deleting a previously verified email from an Apple ID does not disassociate it from that Apple ID which is the root of all the frustration).

Same or Similar Issue for me.

I have 2 Apple ID's a gmail email address one that I use for iTunes purchases and a @me.com email address.

I successfully transfered my mobile me account to icloud and set up my phone and mac so that my store stuff was through my gmail email Apple ID and my icloud and stuff was through @me.com email Apple ID, all works fine, email, calendar, find my iphone face time etc etc etc.

The problem I am having is when I try to invite or accept a request in the Find My Friends app the app gives me the message, "Cannot Connect to Find My Friends, Verify your Apple ID at https://appleid.apple.com to use Find My Friends". So I go to the Apple ID page and login with my @me.com Apple ID.

It shows my @me.com email as the primary email for the account but says "Not Verified" so I click on the Verify Now button and it returns with error "Email address is already verified for another Apple ID". I only have one other Apple ID which is the gmail email one, so I log the Apple ID page into that and sure enough I find that the secondary email address on this account is my @me.com email address, I hit the Delete button to remove it and save the changes.

Next I log the Apple ID site back into my @me.com Apple ID and click the Verify Now link again but I still get the same "Email address is already verified for another Apple ID" error. Nothing more I can do, don't get why all the other services work like Find My Iphone and Facetime work with my @me.com Apple ID but Find My Friends doesn't.

The stupid thing is what is the point of verifying an @me.com email address that is the primary email on an Apple ID anyway, if I can log in to request the verification email I already have the password to log into email to accept the verification, because it is one of the same account. I mean I didn't create an Apple ID for my mobile me or icloud account they just did it as part of the transfer/setup.

The whole Apple ID thing needs sorting out because it is a complicated mess at the moment, I thought Apple said they wouldn't make a mess of a product release again like they did with mobile me.

Of course any suggestions would be appriciated.

Same exact problem here - "Email address is already verified for another Apple ID." Was on the phone with Apple Support for an hour trying to resolve it. They honestly don't know how to fix it. The solution is obvious - the verification history should be removed when the e-mail address is deleted from an apple id. The is obviously not happening programatically, but the Apple Support personnel don't have the ability to delete the verification records.

Needs to be resolved ASAP. What is the best way to go about doing this? Any ideas?

Here's how I happened to get this error and how I got it to go away. Worth a try if you happen to have the same scenario:

Upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 5, and the config screens forced me to change my Apple ID from the old username style ID to the new e-mail style ID. I tried entering the new ID as an e-mail address directly on the phone, but it said that it was already taken (pretty common problem also). So I manually logged into my account from a browser using the old username ID, and changed my ID to an e-mail address. With all the weirdness so many people are complaining about, I was surprised that that actually worked. Then I verified that primary e-mail address, and then added another. When I tried to verify a 3rd e-mail address, I got this "already verified for another ID" error.

Tried many times, logging in and out, but to no avail. Then I realized that I should probably get rid of all apps using the old username ID. iTunes was the first and obvious choice. After I signed out of my account from the iTunes desktop app and then back in with the e-mail address, the verification process for that different e-mail immediately succeeded. I didn't think that the 3rd e-mail address was linked to any of my Apple accounts, but apparently Apple thought so. Apparently, the ID transition from username to e-mail address (or likely any change to the Apple ID) does not fully complete until all "locks" on the old account has been released by signing out.

I just had a similar problem. I removed an email address from one Apple ID (ID-A, let's call it) and added and verified it on a different ID (ID-B). I changed my mind and want to move it back, but even after deleting it from ID-B, ID-A would complain that the address couldn't be added because it was alread verified under another Apple ID. If I re-added the address to ID-B, it'd immediatlely show up as verified.

Long story shortish, I ended up opening a support ticket through the iTunes Store Support Express Lane. Chatted online with a support rep, who could see that the address remained associated with ID-B, but could find no way to disassociate it. She escalated the issue to a Senior Support Advisor, who it turn sent it to their engineering team. Within a day, the address was freed, and I was able to add it to ID-A. I could not, however, set it as the primary address for ID-A through the appleid.apple.com site. Instead, I had to do it by logging into the account in iTunes and changing it there.

A pain for sure, but the support folks were all very helpful. There was never a mention of having to pay to open a ticket.

I had my original account myname@myemail.com with the same for the email address. Changed it to my me.com email address & the ID just myname. Then I had a me.com address as my Apple ID which I switched over to iCloud. OK. I can't get into a bunch of things like Find My Friend and such, as I use myname@me.com for everything and my original Apple ID for iTunes only. Well, I switched my original Apple ID to my old email which it was originally & verified it, but I still can't verify the myname@me.com Apple ID, even though I removed the email address form my other account.

Maybe Apple's systems are all slow right now. I'll give it some time, but I can't log into a bunch of new Apple iOS 5 apps because of this mess.

PLEASE FIX, APPLE. Thank you.
