How to remove effects in FCP X

Hi,

Does anyone know how to remove individual effects from clips in Final Cut Pro X?

Once an effect has been added to a clip, it shows up in the Inspector. It can then be turned on or off by using the blue checkbox next to the effect. However, I would like to remove a couple of effects (that are currently turned off) from individual clips in the timeline, so that the Inspector is less cluttered.

This was pretty straightforward in FCP 7, but I cannot see how to do it in FCP X.

Thanks,

Acros-Krik

Looks like a typo. You don't have to buy anything, they meant "by"

Show the Inspector for the clip that has the effect, select the Effect in the Inspector, hit delete.

You can also do it via the Timeline by selecting the clip in the Timeline and hitting control+v (or right clicking on the clip name and selecting "Show Video Animation". Select the effect in the stack and hit delete.

Oh. Well, thanks for helping me out. On a brighter note, I actually discovered a app like FCP (at least its similar imho) called Motion. Im glad I got it too. So far I have been able to do everything I need in it without final cut pro, which is good! I just need a break from FCP...it was making me crazy - Although I would still like to use it, so maybe ill go find some training on it.... After effects CC monthly payments is just not the way I want to do things. I want what I purchase to be ON my computer, not on some "cloud" somewhere, so that why I started using FCP, and plus I do like the interface, it is very "inviting" imho, its just the mechanics of how the app works was freaking me out. There isn't even a save function, which at first, REALLY threw me off, I was afraid to exit the app, lol...Anyway, thanks again for the help! 🙂

Select multiple clips in timeline and turn off effect. Works for all the clips. I just got back Colour Corrected shots form Davinci and I reconnected them and a Vignette effect that I had used during the offline had travelled to davinci and back to fcpx. Selected all clips in timeline, turned off vignette in inspector and it turned them all off.

It seems that the clips selected must have the same effect on it for it to work. Also, filler can't be selected or it won't work.
