Invalid serial number Lion Upgrade

still isn't working for me in ohio...custom Macbook Pro ordered July 9.

Here is what worked for me on the US Apple Online Store. Once you are at the Up-To-Date page, use the option on the right hand side, REGARDLESS of when you purchased your Mac. For me I purchased mine on June 21, but I still use the link under the heading "

Qualifying purchases on or after July 21, 2011

and went to the "Redeem from the Apple Online Store" on the right hand side. It still lets you put in an earlier date and it worked fine for me. Never could get the one on the left to work eventhough I bought my Mac back in June.

Bought my MBP last Friday from Apple online store, received on Monday and have been trying to sign up for up-to-date program but unable to because of "ineligible serial number" or "... can't find the serial number...". Called Apple support earlier this morning and was told it was known issue and to try later in the day. It's now been almost 11 hours and this still hasn't been resolved! #sodisappointed

You just have to wait... keep on trying, for me.... it can't work only for 3-4 hours... after that, it works perfectly and i have updated my macbook pro to Lion already 🙂

yes.... i experienced the frustration yesterday too... gotta wait, i stayed up till around 2-3 am just to download and install, was waiting since 7.30pm yesterday.

Apple claims here their download server is facing an "overload". These "on the floor" people don't always get the hot dope but still having problems validating my serial number. They advise waiting a day or even more. Well, Apple fans do like to jump on the new stuff even before it comes out so I did expect the "overload".

Only the most dedicated receive the privilege of purchasing the latest Apple product. You must prove your worthiness.

why cant apple upgrades ever go smoothly..

It's almost the end of today, still get "illegal serial number" error message....

Keep on trying when my country is not even in the list but still I bought it from the official retailer, and now I can't update. GREAT! 😠

maaan...that´s annoying...lion is out for more than 20 hours now and we are still waiting for the system to even recognize our Serial numbers...what is this apple? It does work for some people, where is the reason? I have my 75€ iTunescard here which came with my macbook pro.

When it does not work this afternoon, i buy lion through the mac appstore and want a refund of this! I was entitled to download lion the day it is released, but i was not able to!!

Well, now this link worked https://uptodate.apple.com/us/uptodate/macosx/ I am now waiting for the code to be sent to me via email....i think it´ll take hours again
