Facetime Server Encountered Error

Hello,

Just upgraded my SL to Lion and I am experiencing 2 problems.

1. FaceTime: "Server Encountered An Error Processing Registration. Please Try Again Later."

2. Screensaver Starts in the middle of the work. Tried deleting SystemPreferences.

The Problem #2 started to happen after I upgraded to 10.6.8. I have even discussed this earlier in this forum but that doesn't resolved this issue. I thought maybe an upgrade to Lion will fix this problem but it doesn't.

This solution doesn't work for me. I have changed my Date/Time prefs back and forth repeatedly (they were fine to begin with by the way) and I still get the facetime server error. For pete's sake, Apple, this is all over the net, has been for a year or more, and nobody's come up with a solution that works for everybody. Please put out a fix for this!

Well this is embarrassing. I restarted my system and now Facetime works. I suspect it wasn't date/time prefs, since I had these on automatic to begin with. I think ultimately it worked because I edited my host file according to a Youtube walkthru that provided text for pasting. That hadn't seemed to work at first but restarting seemed to do the trick. The truth, of course, is that I have no idea what actually worked. And it remains absolutely ridiculous that getting Facetime going required such a herculean effort. My earlier exhortation to Apple still stands.

*******OK LOOK*********

I found the real answer, it's easy and quick. It worked for me.

1. Go to the apple in the top left corner of you screen

2. Click "Software Update"

3. There should be some updates with the java and such nothing spesificaly refferring to FaceTime

4. Once you have installed the update (no rebooting requiered) go to the apple in

the top left corner of you screen again and click "Log Out (your name)"

5. Then log back in

6. Open FaceTime

7. log in

Now your Done!!!!! simple as that no re-installation, re-booting, or hardcore encoding!

email me if u have any additional questions
