I bought a macbook pro on the 13th July 2011 using the Apple online Store (Singapore) , wanted to upgrade to lion today but when i am redeeming the codes. It says serial number is not eligible.

same problem here! just called the apple hotline. they told me to try again later. they are aware of the problem, many users already called.

Yes, I have the same issue. I bought my MacBook Pro 15in at the end of June custom build, but when I try to go through the upgrade process I receive that my Mac is ineligible for update. I wonder what should I do?
Lets try again in the later part of the day, Give Apple sometime to update their Database with our serial number. Seems like they have left it out accidentally
customization does not matter. as the seriel number stays the same. i got a 27 inch imac and it doesnt work for me either.
yes i got my free download but i would try later the systems are overwhelmed right now
Try again in a couple of days. Apple's servers are undoubtedly completely swamped today, and the "ineligible serial number" message may be a spurious one caused by overburdened servers.
Same problem.
All who buy a customized MacBook Pro have the same problem.
I call to Spanish Apple Support and they said to me that I continue trying it because they don't know why this is happens.
I hope a quick fix.

got a MBP and an imac a few weeks ago.
Agree i didn't customize mine and it doesn't work either and it shouldn't change the serial number even you customized
Same here. So frustrating. Wondering after such a long time of waiting how could they make such mistake. Unluckily, the call center in Singaproe closed at this moment. 😟

Bought my MBP last Friday from Apple online store, received on Monday and have been trying to sign up for up-to-date program but unable to because of "ineligible serial number" or "... can't find the serial number...". Called Apple support earlier this morning and was told it was known issue and to try later in the day. It's now been almost 11 hours and this still hasn't been resolved! #sodisappointed
Serial number not eligible to update to LION when it is bought from apple store after june 6.
